Both these two make good cablesā¦
https://forzaaudioworks.com/en/
and of course Bruxā¦
thank you @Ohmboy !
I know them all - Forza is to expensive at the moment, I have all my custom cables made by Oidio, but wanted to switch for a new experiance, while I always preached only best things about the oidio price/performance ratio ā¦ so I asked at the custom hartaudio mail adress, if he can build me one.
From what I saw on Brux`s āstandardā hartaudiocables shop, there is none that would fit the HEDDphone or am I wrong?
would this one fit? https://hartaudiocables.com/collections/headphone-cables/products/hc-10-dual-f-4-pin-mini-xlr-balanced-headphone-cable?variant=32171367202897
Mate James is cool just drop him a mail with any compatibility concernsā¦ [email protected]
yeah itās 4 pin mini xlr. Heddphone audeze empyrean and many use that connector. I use one made by norne audio for my hedd and zmf verite.
Thank you William
Ordered now some third party balanced cables with express shipping, while I wait for the response for some custom ones
Edit: ordered at Forza Audio Works and going to send the Amazon order back next week
a transport/carry case is in works
due to the current situation rather in 2021
The small plugs are 2.50ā¬ each, the 4 pole is 4.90ā¬, so unless the cable is made from condensed child souls wrapped in silver, might aswell break out the soldering iron.
I already asked you months back to start your cable business.
How long would you need for
a design, ordering the parts, cutting, solder, heatshrinks, put it in a Box, write a invoice, shipping, dealing with Mails, RMA and other stuff like social media
What would you want to earn/hour or cable?
They donāt do it for fun.
They have to pay for R&D, a workspace, marketing, manpower, taxes and Tools. Most of this takes place in Berlin and not in China.
not sure what plans you have after you finished studying. Most of us wanna make a living.
I ordered cheap third party cables mass produced and custom cables. Wonāt start about different sounds.
If one decides for a reasonable quality, good looking cable and is ok with paying a premium.
So what.
Itās part of your listening experiance. Some see it as jewelry or so.
Let it cost more then others best headphonesā¦ there are different markets for different clients.
So thank you for your opinion buddy
It takes about 20 pages of paperwork, which is doable. Startup cost is also something I could afford.
That is the true problem.
R&D (= probing arround the cables/product) is maybe 5% work (rather costly as I would have to get the replacement cable or product itselfā¦).
Soldering and the work arround it is maybe 30%
The rest is the ācustomer interactionā, the part I really do not want to deal with, ever.
me neither
in fact all steps are not my thing. So I appreciate the work others do
there are partners, employeesā¦ outsourcing is possible
I had looked around and got offered cables the same price for a ācustomā at 3 different known sources
the HEDDphone is a niche product
there wonāt be sold nearly as many of these cables
by HEDD vs other companys own ones
so they plan a 70% margin or so
they simply have to have a own balanced cable
others include 2 or 3 different ones
Focal cables for exampleā¦ the unboxing experiance is goldā¦ the cables are good quality but a bit stiff
Hifiman cables are thrown in the trash immediately
even with the Susvara
Beyerdynamic gives you options in a ok quality but not as prettyā¦
The provided single ended HEDDphone cable is nice to look at and is good quality
Boutique brands we all love like ZMF include a good quality cable and give you different price options from 60 - 500 bucks
Making cables isnāt too hard. When I see companies throw prices like $200+ for cables or how included cables are sometimes trash (Focal and Hifiman), then yeah I opt to make my own.
That is until I found out about companies like Hart Cables (modular sets), Dyson Cables, and Periapt making cables for far cheaper (sub $80). At that point, my time is worth more than making sets of cables of my own. I might think otherwise if I was back in high school or college.
Anyways, the limiting factor in making your own cable set(s) are startup costs (mainly equipment, materials are typically cheap) and time. A majority of my costs probably went to my soldering station (Hakko FX888D-23BY) because I wanted a nice one and that thing is simply awesome to use. Anyways, unless I want a certain aesthetic, I opt to purchase from the discount shops. I havenāt had to so far because my old DIY cables still hold up, although Iām tempted with the interconnect system that Hart is selling. Soldering those 4-pin mini-XLRs aināt fun.
Yea. Thatās what Iām doing now. Ordered the parts for a 2.5mm set of connectors for my Hexv2s, cause the cheapest good cable (that comes in less than 3 months) is at least $150. I would rather make it myself if I can. If you canāt cause you either donāt know how to solder, donāt know how to make the cable, or donāt have parts then paying the premium is probably worth it.
It is pretty fair to criticize the cost of some cables (like the ZMF higher end stuff, those prices are kinda ridiculous afaik). Once youāre spending that money, itās prolly significantly cheaper to source the mats and tools yourself and make it.
Hartaudiocables- I can only recommend
had a very friendly, fast and professional contact
The offer included a cable in custom colour, the multi kit and international shipping for around 170
Others have noticed how cool the multi kit and very fair pricing is. So you have to wait a bit. Totally understand it.
Wanted since months a Hartaudiocables set.
Next time for sure!
So I checked oidio sound uk, where I ordered a few times in the past. Super happy with all options, contact and pricing
wanted something else this tine out of curiosity and ordered at Forza in poland to germany, so less shipping costs and no extra taxes/fees
also did check periapt and while they are sub 100, you pay a good amount for International shipping and taxes.
All vary slightly in total cost -around the HEDDphone cable. Who would have thought ā¦
Itās about the looks and ideasā¦ sound - who knows?
You seem to be getting a bit defensive about people suggesting that making your own cables might be a reasonable (and for some more practical) alternative than buying the marked up cables from small manufacturers. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
Even at the $80 per cable scale DIY still applies pretty heavily. Buy 50-100 ft of mogami wire, some paracord, glue, some connectors and you can theoretically make one of everything hart/periapt offer for ~1/2 the price. Time and skills vs money. Your call. But no one should get angry or defensive over this whole discussion.
Being skeptical about the more expensive $200+ headphone cables is not a bad thing to do either.
it might work for many - others donāt care
Maze comes with his child souls in a 1899$ headphone thread. LoL
There are at least 2 DIY threads you can share your builds and laugh about the idiots who donāt get it.
If there is a thread you don"t careā¦ go further and let others enjoy their part of the hobby. Is simply fucking childish. We donāt have to agree in this ultra subjective hobby. We donāt have to be toxic either
It is your opinion that I donāt get it. I do- my father and my 2 best buddies, solder and build.
one is since his childhood making planes, helicopters and dronesā¦ 6 years ago he was at a company who make these 30k expensive 6 rotor ones for offshore fllights and he build these suckers. Then came a long a company named Microsoft and bought his company. Now he programs the few hundred drone shows at the olympics and works on super secure projects- I believe it has to do with the transformers
The other one to shorten it up is building his own photo cameras
My father is an engineer who DIYs everything
We build 2 houses, a sailboat, furniture out of our apple treesā¦ we do all repairs on motorbikes and cars
is quite good in soldering, has all equipment and the most important thing: he has fun doing/making stuff
I hate it. I love all 3 guys and look up to them.
I love watching them building and repairing stuff.
Drink a beer and chatā¦
I get frustrated and hate the stinky part where you have to keep a airflowā¦ prefer not to die LoL
i think he just put his opinion out there without any sort of hate towards you or people that buy crazy expensive cables. seemed to me that he was just stating his dissapproval of the price.
Thatās what I was getting out of it. Though thanks, Jose.
I tend to writing novels, about a simple topic.
Think Maze is ok or does not care.
So peace out
Donāt care to be honest.
You work for your own money, you spend your own money.
I was just looking for a 3.5mm stereo jack that can take 6mm cable and had a lot of prices for various other plugs in my head.
