Hey. Really happy to see you enjoy them. I’m thinking on the exact same setup ( zen dac and he400i). Have you tried them with other genres? from softer music to hard rock/metal.
Would you say they have the punch required for the “heavier” musical genres? Especially in the bass regions.
@Omri_S No no, please don’t get them if you need bass.
I only realised I need bass when I got them.
I only got the bass out with the Zen DAC and a EQ to make it natural. (The headphone sounds ‘fake’ to me)
Also this EQ doesn’t work with anything else for some reason and a few days listening I’m still not completely satisfied. That day yes, I almost cried because I almost got to where I wanted to go. But still it doesn’t work.
I’m selling mine to get speakers as that’s what I prefer, I think i can’t get a realistic sounding headphones for my budget. Speakers are closes to the sound I want.
My verdict after a while listening (few weeks) :
It seems to have what it takes to be a ballin headphone, just the tuning is off (maybe me only, review say gud).
But I hear the details, it’s amazing really, just sadly when I play FLAC the highs are wayy too much (like what I initially felt when I got them), I just can’t stand it.
Didn’t the very first reply suggest the AKG K371?
I use them for techno & love them. Nothing I tried could produce such a crisp & tight kickdrumm.
Subbass is slightly elevated and creates nice pressure.
Still fast & accurate in the bass regions. No peaky treble for me, but this is subjective.
Had the Fidelio X2HR, they sound wide of course… but treble felt sibilant & bass was sloppy for me.
You could have both, closed & planar. But no experience there, very happy with Sivga Phoenix for my techno, hiphop & jazz needs.
Monolith M1060C could be worth a try for example.
