Help me find my endgame headphone under $1000(Focal Elex vs Hifiman Sundara(worried about QC issues!))

I am inching towards my endgame headphones and have it narrowed down between the Focal Elex and the Hifiman Sundara. Other than the huge price difference, I worry about QC issues both the Elex has had specifically vs Hifiman overall QC issues(although I hear the Sundara has avoided QC issues).

I mostly game, but also listen to quite a bit of music(and when I say game, I play mostly single player immersive stuff, so I don’t need to hear footsteps), I just want to know based on everyone here, which has had less QC issues as a whole, the Elex or Sundara? I use a Topping A50s as an amplifier, so powering should be no issue.

Thanks all, I’m still new to this, and just want to avoid duds if I can.

Are you in the USA? The Focal clear OG are 990$ from headphones.com

If EU I have a set of Focal Clear Pros that would do you well for 850 euros.

QC issues get thrown around pretty frequently with Focal. To the extent that you hear about them more…people pissed and with broken paid for goods are more apt to use forums to vent…not bad for mental health…potentially painful to vendor/makers.

I am biased to my own experience but …every Focal I’ve owned ( past 2 year = 7- 2x Elex) all second hand have had 0 problems with the headphone…focal cables yes , but the cans themselves have been great.
