I am here to beg for assistance in the following matter:
Headphones for portable use with the HiBy R6 Pro.
-Over ear
-Portable/mid sized
-Low impedance (No external amp/dac other than R6 Pro)
-Closed back (Realize this may be unrealistic and would be willing to hear open back recommendations)
-I listen to mostly electronic music
-Oval ear cups vs round ear cups preferred (Not to brag but I have long ears)
I am currently using Beyerdynamic DT 1350s and really enjoy the ease of driving them and sound signature. However I cannot stand the discomfort after 3 hours of sustained listening. I struggle to get a correct seal with on ear head phones and my ear size.
The Beyerdynamic 177x GO seems like a good option for you. The cups are round but pretty large and I’ve not had any issues with discomfort with mine for long sessions, granted my ears fit in them but the pads are super soft. I use aftermarket Dekoni Elite Fenestrated Sheepskins.
You could look for a Focal Elegia in the used market. They have been known to go on sale also since they have been recently discontinued. I have had a pair for a while and they are my go-to closed back. They would be very easy to drive off the R6 Pro as well. They are also very comfortable to use for a long period of time.
I don’t know these cans well, but Dan Clark Audio Aeon RT Closed seem to check every box here.
Someone else piggy-back this with an expanded opinion on these for this use.
Totally worth it for running around. Even though it’s on ear it feels like a closed back. The KPH30i. Definitely portable and if they die they’re only $30 but if they die then you’ll be depressed because they sound so DAMN GOOD while you wait a week for your next pair to arrive
I want to thank everyone who contributed here with their knowledge and suggestions! I apologize I have no been more active I have had a family medical emergency thats drawn my attention elsewhere.
