Help with desk setup

Hello everyone

So I want to connect my geshelli j2 to two other balanced headphone amps. However I want to do so without losing any sound fidelity.
Would it be okay to just buy two xlr y split cables or would the best option be to buy som kind of passive xlr preamp?

Hi Toby - Welcome !

You could use an XLR switch like this Little Bear. I have a couple and they have been fine for desktop applications where I’ve had a DAC that I wanted to use with different amps.

Definitely worth a couple extra $ vs using splitters IMO.

Thank you so much. Just what I needed

Depending on the input impedance of the two amps (assuming 40k Ohm each), then a Y-Splitter would be fine.
If the two are 10k Ohm, then you want a passive switch or pre-amp.

Note: Running four inputs with 10k Ohm impedance each (combined 2.5k Ohm) from a 600 Ohm output is fine in a single-ended (= RCA) setup.
With the higher voltage swing of Balanced (= XLR) setups, combined minimum input impedance of 4k Ohm.
