đŸ”¶ Hifiman Edition XS

Maybe it is different in Your country but for me (Germany) the price you see while shopping already includes the tax. When I go through the shopping process the amount of tax I have to pay gets discounted on the item price. Still my seller was so nice to under declare the value I only had to pay like 15€ VAT.

That’s nice thanks for the info. Bit worried with warranty and aliexpress since I can’t return it if they ask, shipping to china is probably very expensive. I might still do it since cheapest on amazon is 550$ and used are 450$(who knows what problems the used ones might have). $390 isn’t a bad deal at all.

Would hybrid Dekoni be close to the original pads soundwise?

What is the consensus about the Dekoni pads signature affecting XS?

Does the Hybrid Headband fit as a replacement on the Edition XS? Looks like it should, right?

ananda has the same cups and uses the hybrid style headband so it certainly should

That Chinese headband won’t actually fit either the Ananda or Edition XS, it’s designed for round cup Hifimans which have quite different dimensions. I know they list it as “for the Ananda” but if you look at all the photos and the video they have of it, it’s all round cup Hifimans, it will be quite a bit too short for the egg ones which have a longer distance between the mount points.

Comment from the video and Ali listing: “This product doesn’t fit with Ananda. What is the basis for compatibility with Ananda?”

If you could actually get an Ananda headband, that should fit if you can get it unscrewed. The Ananda and Edition XS cups are identical and they use the same method of attachment. The Arya cups are also identical in size but use a pin system for attachment rather than a screw like on the Ananda/Edition XS.

Did you read the rest???

I didn’t see you’d realized this, just replying to that old comment to confirm that that headband doesn’t work. Don’t know if the yokes would even be compatible with that replacement headband, I would doubt it, they look different.

The measurements should fit but (thickness and width) however like i said i dont feel comfortable taking apart a 500$ headphone without really knowing in advance

So
Edition XS vs Ananda 2022, anyone has any inputs? Considering you can get the Ananda for +$50 of the XS price. Really in doubt between these two headphones so I appreciate it if anyone has heard both of them and can comment about it.

Edit: before people ask, the source would be Element II DAC/Amp, no upgrades were planned.

My EDXS has new rivals.

Where in the heck are you able to find the Ananda for 50$ more than the EDXS? I was lucky and got my EDXS for 498$, while the Ananda would cost 998$.

Damn, this price Ohmboy posted is good, specially since buying from Hifiman guarantee you’ll have support and warranty from them. Unfortunately I’m not in the US/Europe/UK so this doesn’t apply to me.

Anyway, I ended up buying the Ananda con 11.11 from GZZB on AliExpress. Paid them 450USD plus $20 shipping. Headphone came well packed and on time, I can definitely recommend the store.

So far I’m happy with the cans, a little tricky on the comfort but impressive stage and detail. Still making my conclusions though, so I’ll leave it at that.

Somebody can compare XS and Moondrop Venus? I don’t really understand they good or bad, so different reviews
I really LOVE tonality of XS, but want better build quality and more comfort to my small ears. Should I pick Venus over XS?

Venus is less comfortable for most people because of the weight, build is better though
sound is more of a preference most people would probably prefer the XS though, they are similar but XS has better bass

I believe DMS compared them in his Venus review @ the Headphone Show.

How is everybody enjoying the EDXS?
As for me, I wanted - physically speaking - to cleanup my setup and sold the Topping D10B + L50.
I gave a try to the Fiio K7 (with a balanced cable), but the tuning was not of my liking so I returned it soon after.
Miraculously I found an unbelievable deal on a new Burson Audio Conductor 3 Performance.
It is not the most powerful one among the BA offerings, but if possible I wanted to stay single ended for convenience.
So far, it is definitely the best match I tried for the EDXS! I think I am set for quite a while now!

Questions for owners: When you bought the headphones, either in a store or through the mail
when you got the retail box in your hands the first time
is the box sealed with the typical clear plastic or is the box just
the box? If it was just the box, was it obviously new, IOW, was there some sort of factory seal, like a factory tape seal in a couple of spots on the box? Oh, and I’ve seen a couple of versions of the box: there’s a gray one with the sort of deluxe blanket thing inside and a more spare cardboard with just the headphones and a foam frame that can be used as a stand. Just wanted to know the current standard for the box and factory seal for the Edition XS. Thanks!

In my case, I went Open Box, so it wasn’t sealed. But I knew that going in. The box was well packed and showed up in perfect condition.

This what the inside looks like.

Of course you get all the registration cards and so on. I guess I could pull that thing out and try to use it like a stand. Not sure how solid it would be. Better yet, I’ll just leave it be! But overall, I would say it’s a good presentation. The headphones inside were perfect, so all good.
