if you love the timeless the XS is āpretty closeā as a open back headphone but also way more expensive I personally think the HE400se is closer (soundwise at least) at the cost of the soundstage

I might be wrong but I believe the hifiman store ships within the EU from Hungary, so we Europeans donāt have to pay import duties.

If you are in the US, somehow there is no sales tax if buy from the Hifiman store (ships from NY). Nice savings.
Iāll pile on my thumbs up for HFM store, bought OB Sundara and it has been a good marriage.

I have also had really great experiences with the Hifiman store and customer service - they helped me out with an issue on my Sundara, were really easy to work with via email, gave me options and sent me instructions and sent me a replacement headphone, I just had to send them the original headphones.
If that is the case, then I see no reason to not go with their official store.
I bought a b-stock Sundara from an official reseller in Denmark for 25% off.
When I received it I noticed it had a bad connection in one side and contacted Hifiman asking for a replacement socket so I could just replace it myself (the reseller was ignoring my mails).
Hifiman told me they would replace my b-stock set with a brand new set as it had full warranty.
I just paid to have the old pair shipped to a warehouse in Poland and got a new pair in return.
Thatās really excellent customer service!

Yeah, same thing for me. In my case there was an issue with the headband - they gave me the option to install a replacement headband myself or send them the headphones and they would send a replacement

The Hifiman salespoint in the US is simply amazing. I also live in Mexico and bought the Edition XS there. Got them on January the first as soon as they were available. Got them after 10 days mostly for customs delays. After a couple of months a problem showed up with the jack in the right can having a bad wiggly connection. As I bought the tripowin grand via cable I could verify it was the jack in the can and not a cable problem. I immediately contacted Hifiman US, they gave me instructions and sent the headphones. Took three days to get there and next day after they received them, sent back a brand new set. I was in contact with customer support by email and they always answered my questions and helped to make the process easy and fast. Couldnāt be happier!

The point in that video is that no one NEEDS anything beyond a basic dongle as long as it moves your HP. But the point I made there was that no one needs lobster, but hey, it is pretty durn good! So why not, if an amp/dac adds flavor to your listening experience, why not, go for it! Someone replied that amps ādo not have sound signaturesā as they are only meant to amplify and be transparentā¦ the raw truth is that amps do have sound signatures and hence there is the concept of synergy. So each one of us have to find the synergy we like the most as much as we prefer certain flavors over others equally good.

You sure have to pay import fees, I think it was about US$100, which approximately makes the price match the tag in mx Amazonā¦ you may want to buy them in Amazon as it is easier to deal with issues if necessary. But waiting for the cost of a new headset that is a hot sale is a gamble that makes the wait not worth it, unless you have other cans that alleviate any pain!
No but āhot saleā as in the event, thereās always bank promotions in may where they give you about 15% off on everything you buy in those days, and yeh i have way too many cans lol, gonna have to offload a few soonā¦
Well going to pick a pair up to see what the hype is about.

Does someone have both Edition XS and LCD-X 2021?
I would like to know a brief comparision between the two. I know that probably the LCD-X technically outperforms the Edition XS in most areas, butā¦ how much? Tonality wise is important, but I think if I get any of those I will EQ it anyways. Thanks!

Hello there, I am pretty new to being an audiophile, so Iām definitely still trying to learn a lot, but I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I have the Sennheiser HD 6xx, and I just recently bought the Hifiman Edition XS as my first ever planar magnetic headphone. I was really enjoying the sound of it, and I quite liked the punchy bass, and all the details that I was getting from the headphone. oh by the was I have a Schiit Magni Modi stack plugged into my MacBook over usb, and using apple music lossless for all my music. But anyways I really wanted my dad to try using the headphone so I let him listen to it. Heās older so he listens to headphones quite a bit louder than I do because of his hearing loss. then he starting messing around with Apple Musicās EQ setting and then cranked the bass all the way up 10 db, and it made a horrible distorting noise, and then we quickly turned it off. Now for some reason, the bass on the headphone just seem to be quite than normal, and seems more muddied and unclear? also I tried to do a sine wave sweep, and I donāt know if its my hearing or the headphone, but I donāt hear or feel anything under 45-50hz, and it sounds like my 6xx has more bass quantity than my XS, when I A-B them as well. I donāt notice any distortion with the XS, so it could be all placebo, but for some reason I feel like somethings wrong with it, but I donāt really know how to tell, or what to do to make sure and check everything is ok with it. Any advice? also I donāt have like any money to buy a measurement rig, so like is there some place I can take it to to have it measured and at least verify the measurements are correct? Sorry for the long post, Iām pretty new to this stuff, and Iām trying to learn as much as possible, but I have no prior experience with planners, and I donāt know how fragile they are either. Again any help or advice is greatly appreciated, Thanks!
Iām guessing a lack of power if he listens loud. The XS really like power if they can get it.
I think heās saying the bass died on his XS after they boosted it super high
