🔷 HiFiMan HE-R9

I found the R9 to be very thick and bassy.
The SR2’s are a lot more open sounding to me. Great bass and forward mids. They feel much flimsier due to the headband design. Overall I find the sound much cleaner and more articulate. I found the treble a little recessed, but that works for me.

When I need the Boom, I use my Cascades. The R9’s, in the end, just lacked clarity for me.

Hi guys.

I made a post over on reddit r/headphones about pad swapping the HE-R9s with those oversize foam pads people buy for KPH30is or that are sold as meant for Grados - thought I’d put it in here for the HE-R9 owners thread.

I’ll keep it short here but unbelieveable transformation of sound, and listening now in the cold light of the next day, they still sound really good. I was thinking maybe i got carried away when I first tried it but coming back to them today I’m still impressed. With a little bit more tuning (with people who know what they’re doing!) these could be great.

I’d love for anyone who owns these to give it a shot, at the very least to see if I’m not crazy.

Hey,

How did you disconnect the internal wire across the Headband? Do you need to rewire them or simply cutting and removing them will allow normal TS cable to work on both sides?

Thank you very much.

You dont need to disconnect the internal wire but one side needs to be L/blank/ground and the other blank/R/Ground in TRS. Best to ask your cable maker to wire for Hifiman Deva/R9/10.

TS cables will not work due to the short.
