Hifiman HE6SE For $700

I was listening to really high dollar headphones the other day. They sounded incredible, each and every one of them. But i truly believe the difference was in the POWER, the HE6se is almost like a speaker on my head. Is THIS what electrostatic headphones are like or should I ask is this the feeling electrostats invoke?

Estats can’t really match the power, authority, and impact that the he6 has imo

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I win today. yessss…So friggin happy I bought these. Now I want new cables and do I want some more pads to roll too? I don’t know I’m actually asking. What else do I want to buy for these?

I mean I just keep mine with stock pads. Any good cable would do the job. Perhaps another amp to test them on that could get them even better lol

alright, I’ll chill and enjoy them for a while.

Last question then, What load do these present to an amplifier
when being run via the adaptor? 4ohm? 8ohm? different? I need to know this so I can figure out whatI’m actually pushing into them please.

I think it presents an 8ohm load but idk

copy, I’ll research that some more. please let me know if you happen to find a definitive answer.

It is designed to provide around 4-8 ohm loads

If that’s the case I’ve got these at 600 watts, 300x2 now. That seemed to be the magic number before they opened up and the bottom end just put a smile on my face. they make my ears wiggle…

So you are probably pushing around 45-50 wpc into the he6 which is what it likes. It also likes a higher quality power source too

I’ve been listening to what you’ve been saying.

I took them up one step at a time and experienced the difference in sound. Next level up will cost serious cash $$$$. they CAN be enjoyed with less, there is an eye opening experience that happens tho when you feed them. w/ what they really desire. It’s been so much fun and really cool to be able to experience the difference each step of the way. These are absolutely worth the cost of admission to see the show…

Well that’s what matters, as long as you are enjoying them lol. I just really like these for what they are and figure other people might find them good too. I just like these over some of the higher end hifiman

Thank you for all the valuable advice, your experience and willingness to share your knowledge is very much appreciated.

I’m really glad these are working out for you. I had the adapter in my Amazon cart but removed it because it seemed like every other review mentioned it being included. I’m still going to listen to them through the weekend, but I’m looking forward to Monday even more now after your glowing praise. I can get glimpses of how good they can be on some tracks, so I can’t wait to see how they sound when powered properly

Rob, I hope you too enjoy them, just be forewarned my praise of them is truly because of my personal sound preferences. These headphones sing to me and I have an eclectic mix of equipment I am feeding them with. Based on my limited exposure to headphones these are the only ones that currently give me a certain feeling and fond memories of times decades past. It’s like a great car stereo system enveloping my head. I truly hope these bring you a similar level of joy buddy!

They are a very unique sound with unique requirements to use them to their full potential lol, and tbh you won’t find a fair amount of headphones like the he6 or se

I already like them in my limited time with them. And if they are only going to get better with proper power, I can see them becoming one of my favorite pairs of headphones

Once you get the power requirement right the bottom end opens up really beautifully in layered dimensions of bass. I have some decent headphones in my pile but none of them can come close to the depth the HS6se can produce in the low end. Also, you can get the high end to power up with less juice but it actually gets much cleaner and is NOT painful when the amp is giving you synergy. For example I can get these to play and get painfully loud w/ Emotiva BasX but the sound quality is Meh compared to what I have heard them do with some of my other amps. If you like playing with gear these will open up a new world of possibilities especially if you have good/decent kit for a 2.0 setup

I recently lucked into a 1974 Marantz 2325 that I’ve been cleaning up and putting through the paces. Its 125 wpc into 8ohms, so I’m thinking it should work nicely. My elderly neighbor is trying to sell a lot of the “junk” she has in her house, and I went over to take some photos of paintings for her to list on ebay. I saw the Marantz and told her it was probably worth some money, having no idea the value until I got home and looked it up. She originally told me I could just take it, but I talked her into letting me give her $300 for it. She was over the moon, and now I am too. She hadn’t had it plugged in since the 90s but it works great

From what I can gather, there is no decent amp on the cheaper side that can possibly run these, right? People mention the Emotiva, but that doesn’t seem to quite get there. Otherwise the deal seems crazy good. I’d bite on the deal if I knew there was a decent speaker amp I could get to pair with this that wasn’t so expensive. Any thoughts or ideas? I could also get something cheaper and then get a better amp later, but even then I still don’t know what to get.
