šŸ”¶ HiFiMan Sundara

Elex/Elear certainly on my radar. Iā€™m also seeing a LCD2 Classic for $599 and feeling tempted. Problem is I donā€™t get to hear them before buying.

I would be cautious of the LCD 2 classic, it is very smooth if that ends up bothering you, the LCD x actually might be more up your alley if you wanted an audeze.

Also I wouldnā€™t consider the elear when the elex exists (and yes they are different headphones and no you canā€™t turn an elear into an elex lol)

Soā€¦ I just got the Sundara today. Been listening for about a few hours. Manā€¦ these things are smoooth in a very pleasant way. These are the new silent rev 2, however I never had a pair of the first rev to compare them to. Comparing these to the LCD-1 that I own, I think I prefer these over them. That might be because the increased soundstage and better imaging imo. Also I am impressed with the slam that these have for being a planar. Andā€¦ these things are not really that heavy either. I had thought by looking at online reviews that they would be. Now these things do need some power. I am running it through my SP200, so no problem there

Thereā€™s not a better under $500 headphone you can get imo. I like my Sundara as much as my HP-3, Aiva, and LCD-2C. They have such a pleasing signature thatā€™s very smooth and natural sounding and the treble is exactly how highs should sound imo. If thatā€™s how the Ananda sounds but with better detail then Iā€™m all in and would have to get a pair.

The Ananda is somewhat different in presentation and that also ends up making them sound different signature wise as well. I think itā€™s an upgrade but not as direct as you think

I never hear you talk about the LCD2 Classicā€™s much. What do think of them? I tried out LCD2ā€™s years ago and was not impressed. Sounded kind of boring to me, but I keep reading great things about the Classicā€™s

I personally donā€™t like the classics because you can get a real lcd 2 for that price used and you get a more refined and capable headphone imo. If you like dark, bassy, and wide the 2c is for you, but I really prefer the regular 2. My favorite 2 is the 2016 LCD 2.2 non fazor

any difference with the various materials, shendua, bamboo etc? or just cosmetic?

So, a good opposite to my Grado/Elex combo?

I would say so, something nice to try, although if you didnā€™t like them beforehand Iā€™m not sure lol

Well sometimes they are different silent revisions or batches but otherwise I donā€™t think so

I was referring to the Classics. :grinning:

https://youtu.be/m56QrSG4kG4 This guy goes pretty in-depth and basically says that if you can find it at a good price and have an amp to power it, then go with the 2.2 pre fazor

My favorite model lol

i dont see a lot of the non fazors listed but the used market kinda ebbs and flows

Been looking at the feature page of this headphones and it has the hybrid pads with both cloth and leather padding. What do these pads feel like? I absolutely canā€™t stand longer sessions with leather padsā€¦

They almost feel like a tee shirt on your head kinda lol (but more comfortable), but thatā€™s most likely a poor comparison. They donā€™t feel like leather though

Goodā€¦ Got scared when I saw there was leather involved in the pads. Changing out pads is incredibly tedious, since pads are a big contributor to the sound you might need to buy multiple pads and see which works best, which means spending more money, which is so annoyingā€¦

Got to love getting into a micromanaging hobby! lol
