Hiss with FiiO KA1 and Kz ZS10 Pro

I’m using the Kz ZS10 Pro’s with a Tripowin cable connected to a FiiO KA1 dongle DAC, i’m kind of confused why i’m getting hiss when running audio through it. I have the same issue when using the original cable that came with my Kz’s accompanied by the OG iphone dongle (i am running all of this with an iphone 13). However when using my FiiO BTR5 with the same Tripowin cable and same IEM’s i get ZERO hiss. I have ordered the TruthEar Blue: 2 IEM’s and they come tomorrow, i’m hoping that the issue is the Kz’s and not my KA1… i don’t want to have to switch back to using the BTR5 it was just to clunky for me. any ideas on how to fix this? i’m at a loss and research online is getting me nowhere. Thanks in advance.

Its both. The ZS10 Pro iirc is on the sensitive side for an iem and the KA1 has a higher output impedance than the BTR5 (1.5 vs 1.0 ohm on 3.5mm). A less sensitive iem will help but so will a source with lower OI.

awesome thanks! so will the truth ears have the same issue with the KA1, sensitivity with IEMs is still something i’m learning

Sensitivity: 117.5dB/Vrms (@1kHz)

Impedance: 10Ω±15% (@1kHz)

KZ 404 Page Not Found
Sensitivity:

111dB

Impedance:

30Ω

They dont specify at which impedance they are measuring these at (standard would be at 1khz) nor if its db/mw or db/v so the specs are kinda useless on the kz. All I can tell you is that the KZ, especially the ancient hybrids are VERY sensitive. Truthear is hopefully better at that. Even if on paper it looks like it is also a sensitive set.
