šŸ”· Holo Spring 2

You plug it into your network and yes with Volumio/Ropiee it works as a Roon endpoint.

Measurements of Spring 3 Prototype by L7 Labs

Does anyone know who L7 Labs is? The measurements along with the figurines smells a lot like ASR. Not that thatā€™s a hit on Holo or anything. Just wondering who the entity is.

I think most people that would buy the Spring 3 are probably not looking for measurements first.

Didnt asmr have more than 1 person do reviews. The other guy used wolf figurines instead of pink panthers. Hmmmm

hey thatā€™s me

If Iā€™m not mistaken, theyā€™re an audio gear measurement lab from China (kinda obvious from the Chinese language huh). Theyā€™re pretty well known in the Chinese forums and audio community, but not really anywhere else tho. Looks like the ASR people accepts them, so I guess their methods are somewhat aligns with ASRā€™s method.

Actually out of curiosity I read ASRs review of the Schiit Yggdrasil since Iā€™m now an owner and I seem to have bought a DAC that ASR can NOT recommend. Whoā€™d have thunk it?

The ASR Yggdrasil thread is one of the most notoriously polarizing/toxic threads on the entire forum (which is saying a lot). Itā€™s infamous among a few of my audiophile friends.

ASR is definitely not a reliable, impartial, reasonable, or trustworthy source in any way shape or form.

I would steer well fucking clear.

While you have to admire what theyā€™re trying to do, they completely fucked it with bad science, false equivalencies, and toxic attitudes.

Itā€™s inaccurate to call what they do ā€˜scienceā€™ at all. Simply measuring things does not science make.

On that subject their definition of ā€˜engineeringā€™ is pretty wildly off too.

Interestingly enough (and somewhat surprising) the Schiit DACs keep their used value. So people are seemingly voting with their $. Rarely will you see a new rev Yggy in good condition drop below $1800 where I routinely see other DACs in the $2500 dollar range drop to $1500 or lower routinely.

The problem is that itā€™s a cop out to say here are the measurements and hereā€™s my recommendation based on those measurements.

I will continue to challenge anyone to point to where in the measurements do things like staging and instrument separation and timbre show up?

Pretty fucking pathetic to make a recommendation without even listening to something.

Thereā€™s also a lot of schiit hype. As far as I can tell thatā€™s a huge factor. Same shit with Denafrips.

I know thatā€™s why it surprised me. In the end, I do flip equipment as it allows me try different things. The one nice thing with the Schiit is that youā€™re pretty sure to not take a bath on their upscale stuff if you decide to move on.

That is fair, Iā€™m just over here ā€œthrift shoppingā€ for niche used stuff that has dropped in price to make the most of the small pool of money I have.
