At the moment I have my speakers connected through Rca straight to the E30 but I obviously want to include the 789 in the setup so it can benefit the E30. I’ll get some XLR to RCA cables in the mail on Monday so I will be using the balanced input on the Adam’s going forward which hopefully will reduce the noice level from the Adams. I’m sort of a noob when it comes to this but I do appreciate good sound so I’d be grateful if someone could give me a pointer!
From computer, Usb or optical to E30., from the E30 use rca to 789 in, from the 789 go rca out to T5vs. (for this connection you will need rca to xlr cables. 789 will be the volume control however I do not know whether t5vs will mute when dt1990s are plugged in. some do and some dont
Or sell the E30 and get a DAC with both XLR and RCA out. Because XLR are beneficial for noise reduction over long runs, you’re not going to gain much.
It’s always a little bit of a struggle when trying to integrate components you buy separately at separate times without having some type of goal. For the most control for your set up, you can look at potentially at a balanced DAC with preamp capability so you can control the volume on your Adams. Then use the fixed out into your 789.
A lot of suggestions here, all of the right. Everything has pros and cons, and there’s no right or wrong it’s just whatever you’re most comfortable with if it works for you.
Thanks for the input guys. I will hook the E30 up to the computer via USB. As I have an XLR to RCA coming on Monday I will most likely run the XLR from the balanced input of the speakers to pass through on the 789. (I realize it won’t be true balanced though). Then run RCA from the E30 to the 789 in.
Am I missing something? xD
Thanks for the input guys. As far as getting a balanced DAC. I might very well do that in the future and I get what you’re saying. Getting a bunch of gear without a plan will lead to this kind of issues.
