Lucky star. Niceeeeeeeee

It’ll be weird paying the waiter by pulling cash from my boot.

Waiter: Sir it’s 250
ME: *Bends down and pulls up cash from boots “here you go here is 20 tip”
Waiter: :no_mouth::nauseated_face: *takes it
My sister:
My father: :japanese_goblin:
My mother:

Also their aren’t any good boots where I live, I might as well import them or buy them when I go on vacation.

Sub tropical location or elsewhere? Sucks not to have access to nice leather, I don’t do flip flops and barefoot.

At least you have electricity…

Ok. This poll has showed me how relatively old I am here. 30+. Have been into audio as long as I could remember but only in the past couple of years been able to afford better stuffs.

Bangladesh to be exact. The good boots are exported out the country, very rare to even find a good one due to the craze for loafers amongst many ppl and the fact we have Factory rejects.

Leather is plenty here, sadly domestic market has…issues with fake and real stuff.

Hanging. Lol! What’s with the 20 character reply limit? There must be a good reason, right?

Since people are also mentioning how they started, I will do a 2 for one

I am 22, started at I want to say around 16 years old when I got my 598.

How I started this is I had a set of Bose AE2i which I bought because of the brand. I really wasn’t as conscious as I should have been for source quality because what I basically did was youtube to mp3 the VGM I wanted and listened to these. The headphones themselves were I guess fine because the source quality was so poor that I didn’t realised how bad they sounded.

See the reason I started to doubt my current audio setup has to do with the fact I have a very sensitive hearing (not that I hear more, but I PAY ATTENTION more than normal people to details, this was later backed by an actual IQ test I had when I was young). The breaking point was when I tried to listen to the pokemon xy ost which was imo the best mainline pokemon ost. This ost is surprisingly complex for a 3DS game and as such, there`s MANY things going on at the same time, but not something I would call overcrowded, just very filled.

This is where I started to doubt my bose because I could tell that what I was hearing felt VERY imprisoned even with the best possible quality (they are selling the ost on itunes in ALAC). I would say there was almost no soundstage and they were closed back, clearly, I needed a good pair of open back with decent soundstage. It seriously felt I was missing out due to lack of separation in the music.

After weeks of research, I finally put my money on the 598 and honestly, that was one of the best purchases I ever done because the changes was staggering. I could actually enjoy listening to VGM SO MUCH more because it was much more clear and I could actually hear separation and more details.

That’s how I got into audio enthousiast  I later on upgraded to the 58x which made the 598 sound garbage in comparison and JUST now, I am awaiting for my koss 95x as I wanted more variety. I also got a dac amp along the way too.

Well hope you enjoy your time here (and continuing to dive deeper), curious to see what you think of the 95x

I think as a person you might be the most interesting here, not only are you young but also to mostly listen to VGM is not common and specifically not common amongst young people.

There’s actually pretty good reasons for this.

The main one is I RARELY enjoy any songs with vocals (as in, I can count them with one hand). This is due to how my brain work in the sense that I am not very good with having an attention span across multiple separate tasks. It might be due to my adhd, but whatever, it’s just how my brain works. It has many effects in my life, but one of them is it affects how I enjoy songs.

See, usually, the vocals are VERY separated from the other instruments in the background and you also have words meaning the way I would pay attention to vocals differs greatly from the instruments alone and because of what I just explained, I have issues with that. I can either focus on listening the words OR I could focus on the instruments in the background, the former being weird and the later…well it works, but having just the background track is kinda boring because it wasn’t designed to be listened on its own usually. Sometimes, I can enjoy the background track on its own, but it’s incredibly rare and usually not blowing me away. To fix this, the actual voices would have to merge PERFECTLY with the instruments which usually doesn’t happen.

So if you remove vocals, you aren’t left with much other than say some electronics/classical stuff. Now I actually do enjoy some classical pieces, but I don’t listen to them as often. I do enjoy it because it’s a genre JUST focused on the instruments and how they interact, they also tend to be simpler to hear which is a style I ALSO particularly enjoy. I guess I don’t listen to electronics as much for the same reasons: they tend to be more complex to listen to.

The place of VGM here is interesting because IMO, it’s a genre of its own and in fact, it’s probably the most diverse genre you can ever find since it has literally of everything. In most cases, it also primarily focuses on instruments, some has vocals, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s more common to not have them. It also helps that I love gaming too, but I think you could have figured that out

I will mention another reason: when I play a game, I actually pay MORE attention to the sound than the graphics simply because my sight is to put it mildly, terrible (that also explains my hearing is so sensitive too). So if I hear a memorable song, I will likely want to enjoy it more after the fact and as I keep doing this, I realized I wanted to do it so much to build my library around it.
