Bass addict and Sarda + Nighthawk owner here. Love them both but the Hawks can’t keep up with the Sarda bass and they are definitely not as clear and crisp sounding as the Sarda either. Hawks are more of a wonderful warm blanket type of sound. Definitely worth experiencing. Few things can keep up with the Sarda bass that I have heard. Campfire Cascades maybe? I’ve always been curious about them.
Sarda bass is the best! So addictive.
I’m also curious about cascades, but hear very mixed things. People telling they can’t keep up with 200 dollar headphones and others saying they absolutely love it.
Th900 is also one of those where some say they can only listen to it for 20 minutes due to it being sharp in the highs and others say it’s the best.
Nighthawk doesn’t sound bad from what you describe as well.
I had the Cascades very briefly and found them to be atrocious, especially given their price. The low end overpowered everything else to an insane degree and it wasn’t what I would call clean or tight either, they just sounded incredibly messy to me. I’ve seen a lot of praise for them and given my experience I find it very confusing.
Talk about Quality bass cannons:
Today I listened to my Sarda’s on a ifi signature. I’m used to listening via my fiio Q5s type c. I ordered a signature just to check how it sounded like and also I’ve got a goldplanar lying around that I thought could use some more juice than the half a watt on the fiio.
The signature manages to make the Sarda’s sound flat. Signature + bass boost on DID NOT even compare to how great the bass is on the q5s with bass boost off.
I’m legit amazed, every day when listening to my Sarda’s. But this was just bad.
I heard better instrument seperation on the goldplanar in instrumental rock music. But overall the sound is really flat. Specially other genres. Don’t even try hiphop. The gl2000 is already a flat headphone and the combo is just bad. I really would’ve thought the ifi signature to be a different experience then it was.
Guess I’ll send the signature back. Sorry if this is the wrong thread. But since @Mr_Makua and @Veritas do or did own the sarda’s I thought this was interesting.
Anyone experience with ifi signature? From what I’ve read a lot of people find the Bass boost of IFI to be very good and the signature over all to be a good unit. But for some reason it manages to make my very good and bassy IEMs sound boring and flat.
Very interesting. I can’t imagine a scenario where I would ever want more bass on the Sarda. lol
But beside that it’s interesting that the pairing was so lousy. I run my Sarda off the Chord Mojo and it’s delightful. Have you ever considered it? Such a versatile and great sounding piece of gear.
Good to hear it sounds great off of a Chord Mojo. Off of all the dac amps, I haven’t really looked into that one. Might be worth while to do then.
I looked into the signature as it has all the power one needs for any situation and people in general are quite positive. It’s small, transportable and huge power. If it only got the best out of headphones and Iem’s…
