I know it doesn't exist but

So as some know I have the OG nighthawks and they are gonna be buried with me (LOL) but…
I find their overall sound and separation very enjoyable… Curious as to the next level though, Same serious punch I feel they have but maybe just maybe a little more treble?

currently have 58x 4xx of course hawks and some Senn 558s
Running Asgard 3 with the multibit card.

That kinda sounds like you would be going to something like the emu teak or the x00 ebony, but you would loose a bit of spatial recreation, but gain more detail, more punch, a bit of a v shape, pretty nice imo

Lol they were indeed discontinued recently in regards of the x00, and the emu teak is direct from emu

Surprised… The E-mu teak is not bad price wise at all

Nah, it’s a logical step up imo. Something higher then that would be like the zmf eikon or th900 mk2 (the eikon sounds pretty up your alley tbh)

so… just curious as to why you recommend closed back to upgrade from my nighthawks, Is there nothing that will give me the sound of the og hawks and still be open?
Yesterday (Wednesday) I had the chance to listen to a couple of different cans. 1 being the LCD3 (a little out of price league) and also Focal Elegia .(also extremely comfortable and solid)

1/ I liked the sound of both and Holy crap was the Audeze comfort unreall.

2/ The guy is a Focal dealer and he said that Focal just announced they are discontinuing the Elegia.
Maybe a replacement coming?
3/ The Elegia was also extremely comfy but not quite as much as the lcd3. I listen to music for 4 to 5hrs a night so comfort is paramount.

Now for something else to ask : Does the LCD2C fit into this anywhere? I know you mentioned I believe that it was dark? But if it is as comfortable as the 3 then it is to be considered

As I previously stated I love my hawks and after wearing them and listening to them for a duration then my others pale in comparison. I am still figuring out exactly what I like but the og hawks are the closest for their spaciousness (to me) and comfort I believe. Thanks again Mon for all you do.

So I was actually going for something else that was biodynamic that would have great impact, timbre, and detail, but not exactly the same presentation that the hawks have, that’s harder to recreate imo. That being said I think the eikon (or the auteur if you wanted a bit more neutral sound) would be one of the closer upgrades to the hawk in impact, tonality, space, and overall refinement, and the comfort and build of both is great

From what I hear that is most likely the case

So I would say the lcd 2 classic can actually be darker than the hawks at times, so imo not exactly what you are looking for. What you may like though is a newer fazored lcd 2, that would have the signature you are looking for and can be found for a reasonable price used, and would have the same comfort of the lcd 3 you most likely tried. IMO also more detailed than the lcd 2 classic and more refined

so I am not really finding anything realistic pricewise or much available either. Hate to pay retail of $1000 for lcd2 and of course we know the Eikon is even more and Lcd3 more than that… I guess I keep looking.
