If you havent heard the Urbanfun ISS014 then the FH3 is something you really should try. That bass is spectacular and addicting.

Iām not really a ābassheadā (more of an airy fairy old school detail audiophile lol) but I do like like bass when in the moodā¦really hope the Vegaās will scratch that itch

Al long as I insert the IT00 slowly and carefully, I can avoid causing any driver flex. The only IEM that I canāt seem to avoid driver flex on when using silicone tips, is the Mangird Tea. Only if I use foam tips do I not get driver flex.

ha ha. Iām using the huge stock white tips on the IT00. EVERY single time I insert them, I get horrible driver flex sounds. Both of my units have had this same issue.
I have no insertion driver flex issues with the Mangird. My issue with the Mangird is that when using silicone tips, it has serious suction issues either in my inner ear or within the IEM to the point where the DD freezes up. At first, I couldnāt use silicone tips at all. The DDs refused to work at all. After weeks of play, I finally was able to use silicone tips but still had inner ear suction issues.
Just of late, Iāve been able to listen to the Mangird without major fit/suction issues. It must finally be breaking in.
Fortunately too because I love the sound of the Mangird Tea! I just wish the fit issues would end once and for all!

Can someone very briefly explain driver flex to me please?
It where an IEM shell isnāt very robust, leading to the drivers moving about in the IEM, or the shell is too tight and makes the driver move

Yeah, from the sounds of things, this may be one to avoid
Driver flex only applies to dynamic drivers, which are a cone or disc, just like most speakers. When you insert the IEM nozzle into your ear canal, the air from your ear canal enters the IEM shell via the nozzle, and the internal pressure builds up (if you use ear tips that create a good seal), DD IEMs always have a vent so that the trapped air can escape. If you insert the IEM quickly, internal pressure builds up fast, and can cause the cone to āflexā or bend, prior to the air escaping through the vent. It typically causes a crinkling noise.

I can cause driver flex with pretty much all of my IEMs that have dynamic drivers. Itās physics and is the nature of things. Itās not inherently a defect. Some IEMs donāt vent very well, and itās easier to cause driver flex with them. However, one cannot simply put large vents in, because it can alter the sound significantly. So itās a balance of tuning while trying to minimize driver flex, Your ear anatomy and ear tip choice also play a role. The speed at which you insert the IEMs plays a role. There are various techniques to help prevent driver flex.

Yep. I try at all costs to avoid it happening , but with the IT00 itās impossible. All I have to do is gently push on the IEM when itās already seated in my ear with a good sealā¦ CRACK!!! The IT00 sounds like itās breaking. Itās by far the worst Iāve ever heard.

It does make a particularly horrible sound. The only worse sound Iāve heard was from the UrbanFun YBF. Fortunately, that one doesnāt get driver flex easily for me.

Can this driver flex cause damage to the iem, or is it just an annoyance upon inserting the iem and then all is well?

Iāve got the Urbanfun as well. I agree. The Urbanfun does have some bad sounding driver flex, but itās not as bad as the IT00.

Great question. Iāve asked the same question. People say it doesnāt, but I had my first IT00 mess up with a bad channel imbalance. So I feel it very well could with the IT00 since the driver is made from graphene and not more traditional materials.
