IEM discussion thread (Part 1)

I think Venture Electronics is looking to produce this

Ohhh thatā€™s interesting - I knew they were making some 4.4mm impedance adapters which I have already picked up but didnā€™t realize there would be a splitter as well.

Thanks chap

Hifigo pre-order started to sell the Diva. It is a 2023 revision:

New Stainless Steel Nozzle.
High-Performance Six Balanced Armature driver Configuration.
Four-Way Frequency Crossover.
Three-Way Bass Rotating Tuning Switch.
Premium Liquid Links 7N OCC Copper cable.
Generation 2 Crossover PCB Circuit.
Internal Wiring Upgrade.
New Looks With Beautiful Face Covers.
New Packaging Design.

Interesting. I truly hope the tuning wasnā€™t touched and itā€™s another case like the OG Dark Magician. It would be ironic though - I felt that the Diva was the natural upgrade from the OG Dark Magicianā€¦

Has anyone heard of the Shozy Black Hole Mini? Seems like thereā€™s a really good deal on it on an AliX seller but I havenā€™t seen many reviews of it

Little something I wrote up if you guys get the chance to read :handshake:

Ouch people are already struggling to sell their Oracle MK2s. Listings slipped from low $400s to sub $400 at the latest example.

Despite a cold response from reviewers, the reviews on Linsoulā€™s site (6 of them) are very favorable. Not the best place to find balanced reviews, but it seems Linsoul do keep in unfavorable ones based on other models Iā€™ve seen reviewed on there.

EDIT: ā€œDespite a cold response from reviewersā€ well I might be wrong or remember that wrong, Zeos has a favorable vid and thereā€™s no doubt he affects sales. Maybe I just remembered Chris and one other without actually knowing what many reviewers thought.

Which only makes their value plunge a little less explicable.

I think a lot of it is timing and FOMO creating a glut of surplus on the second-hand market; Lots of people took a chance based on the name more than objective reviews and, since it ended up kind of divisive to a lot of individual ears, they got dumped fast enough that people have to price them to move. I noticed this happened also, over time, with the MEST mkII and Hifiman Arya; lots of them changing hands fast and the prices dropped rapidly as a result. Bad for anyone trying to make their money back, good for the market as a whole IMO.

What a gorgeous design. Iā€™m definitely looking forward to hearing how youā€™re feeling on them - they havenā€™t seem to have gained much traction since release.

First impression is quite good it has got a good amount of quality bass.
Sub bass rumble is quite impressing, midbass has a good slam and does not muddy the mids.
Mids are very good, no complaints.
Treble is somewhat problematic on certain occasions and can hurt my ears arround 5k. It could use a little more air aswell (high hats)
I am a little underwhelmed of its stage at that price point.
Shozy Magma was more impressive for cheaper.
Layering is good though.
Looks, fit and comfort are fantastic.
Overall I like it but would not recommend it for that price. Shozy Magma I would recommend easily but I wished it had the same subbass rumble as Top

This is definitely my market driver in 2023. There are very good IEMs out there that I just wouldnā€™t recommend because you can get 85-100% of their quality for far less.

I knew that was true for overall sound but I thought that at least technicalities must be better at higher prices but apparantly not always

Very interesting! Gotta say you piqued my interest with the Shozy. Have been telling myself I need/donā€™t need the Xenns Top as a clear, yet still hefty set in the rhythm section. I do like my rumbleā€¦

I thought I was into something when I tried the Azla SednaFit lights on the monarchā€™sā€¦ I was wrong.

The TRN-T tips seem to be a damn near perfect match for this IEM. I am pleasantly surprised at how good they match. My word. Highly recommended if you own the Monarchā€™s or another pair with a similar FR. Theyā€™re hella comfortable as well. After countless tips, I hope these are the ones.

I. Really. Hope. These. Are. The. Ones.

So far? Very nice

The SA Meteor brings the rhythm section like no other. Definitely a recommendation if the rhythm section is your main priority. @VIVIDICI_111 has mine on demo and put out a solid video on it.

I had written off the Meteor, telling myself it may be too warm to give good clarity as well. Watching the video you mentioned put it right back on my list vs the Xenns Top! Decisions, decisionsā€¦

Edit: Forgot to say thank you:)

Mags, speaking of the rhythm section, how would you compare the Maestro minis to the Meteor? I have yet to hear an IEM quite like the Minis, the way it brings so much warm and power to the bass guitar and kicks, it forces you to move in a way my other IEMs cannot compare to. Iā€™m curious to hear how youā€™d compare them.

I think something is wrong with me. Iā€™ve had the Wan Er for a few months now. Wasnā€™t really blown away by the sound, and for some reason could not them to fit me comfortably not matter what I did. Tonight I said to myself, ā€œlet me put the original cord on them and try them one more timeā€. And, I love them. They fit fine, took my time looking at them before lining them up for insert. I think the nozzle is slightly on the large side, but nothing like the Crinacle Zero. Those things are too much for me. Shame because they sound great. Just too damned big.
