Looks like Zeos is trying to do a BLON collab… So many collabs! Blon should just get the same guy who tuned the blon-03 and use newer and better driver tech to release an improved blon-03…
That is a legendary tuner (Zhuo Hulang) that also worked on the Tanchjim Oxygen…have no clue what happened afterwards.
Yeah exactly. Wonder what happened. Anyhoo, bit tired of all these collabs, but I guess it’s the only way experienced reviewers can share their tuning with the world at scale. Not possible to manufacture IEMs at home
He now tunes my DIY projects…
Haha you wish! Have you tried the Oxygen?
I have indeed. It was my favorite single DD until my girl hijacked it. That’s kinda what precipitated the single DD hunt I’m on now.
Oh wowww. Nice! Super excited for your end-game single DD shootout! Get to live vicariously through you
I’m going to start working on writing it up when I get home from rehearsal in a few hours so stay tuned. It was awesome to be able to compare all three of these back to back. I had so much fun!
Well another interesting iem, even if it doesn’t sound great at least it’s different from the typical hybrid releases. BQEYZ Winter Hybrid Dynamic Driver With 11.6mm PZT Bone Conduction In- — HiFiGo
After watching Timmy’s latest video (TURN $20 INTO $2000 (kind of) - YouTube) about the AutoEQ feature on squig I wanted to dive deeper into this feature and I’m utterly baffled how good this works with a few after-apply tweaks. More on these later.
First let me describe my setup. I installed APO (Equalizer APO download | SourceForge.net) and Peace (Peace Equalizer, interface Equalizer APO download | SourceForge.net) on Windows 11 as well as wavelet on my Android phone.
Next I checked if imports of AutoEQ exports into Peace work. Check .
Now i wanted to find out
a) how close does an AutoEQd IEM measure to the target curve with my 711 coupler.
b) how does it sound, or rather, can I apply the distinct Devialet-engineered Huawei Freebud Pro 2 sound to the budget TRN ST5
TRN ST5 stock FR
Freebuds Pro 2 FR
As in the video suggested I only applied AutoEQ up to around 8000Hz, imported into Peace and measured.
The result was pretty good.
TRN ST5 AutoEQ
I could have stopped there but I wanted to improve the eq profile.
First listening tests and the graph revealed that there’s a lack of air/brilliance. In order to mitigate this I added a +14 dB, high shelf band.
The end result is this and it sounds fantastic. If that doesn’t look like a TOTL graph then get outta here
TRN ST5 x Huawei Freebuds Pro 2
Afterthoughts
Today’s experiment opened up endless opportunities of different imaginary collaborations in my mind.
It also showed that countless IEMs are potential diamonds in the rough. The ST5 mutated into a totally different and better IEM.
Very useful was the feedback loop of applying eq <-> 711 coupler measuring

You broke like 4 of Timmy’s rules! He would NOT approve LMAO!
But congrats on your findings. If you find something you love, then you’re doing it right!
Do keep in mind though, that the changes u see on the graph is just the “simulated” graph. It can still look pretty different IRL.
Sure thing, as I wrote these graphs (TRN ST5 x Huawei Freebuds Pro 2) are the actual measured graphs.
What are these rules?
Makes perfect sense - Fiance takes your favorite single DD set = IMMEDIATELY GOES TO TOTL SINGLE DD LINEUP - I kid, I kid.
Wednesday night I went on a deep dive into PEQ and using the Squig equalizer feature to help me visualize what I was doing and man, I got lost for a solid 2 hours trying to sudo Tune the OH10.
I’m very happy to report that not only do they sound amazing to my ears now, but I learned a few things as well - which was a welcome surprise. I shared my findings with @GooberBM the night of and it looks like we should be meeting in the middle of Jan. so I’ll reserve my opinions until then but, I have to say, the EQ profile that I created for the OH10s really make them sound like they are far more expensive than the current asking price.
Enjoy your findings, brother! It’s a part of the hobby that I didn’t think would be this fun.
Hey, I take excuses to upgrade whenever I can. It just seems like smart strategy for gear whores like myself. It actually has a couple benefits, too. On the one hand, I get to upgrade whenever she “borrows” my gear which, I have to admit, is actually pretty rare since our tastes in head gear and music differ quite a bit and she has her own formidable collection. On the other hand, it also makes her think twice about purloining my equipment because if she does it too often we just might go bankrupt (at least we’ll have some SICK gear though).
Between the two of you, eventually you’ll put the Watercooler thread guys to shame - I love it, now THATS love
In the video, he’s like don’t make major changes, don’t EQ past 6k, etc. I’m just teasing that you went rogue and did your own thing =)
Yeah ok…and don’t forget EQing is bad for business.
