I should have choose IEMs to better fit in with the discussion but I wanted to try out the tool. It’s addictive.
I could add in my DAPs as portable setups since they tie in via wifi to the network and the roon server, and then what ever IEMs I choose to pair with them at the moment. I suppose I could choose and IEM for one of the desktop setups too - maybe next version.
FWIW the Symphonium Titan, Oracle MKIII, Aful Explorer and Letshuoer S08 all work pretty nicely on Setup #1 using the balanced output via a 4.4mm to 4pin XLR adapter

Piccolo for $10 is nuts, the other steal currently is the Tripowin Kailua. That was the 2DD that HBB did over a year ago, and it was $79, they have been $29 for a few months on Linsoul. They avoid sibilance, and lean a bit warm, but do everything well. The neutral with a bit of bass is almost the META now, so it is odd that they are so cheap.
This is what I use 95% of the time now. Fun and portable (can swap out PC 1 for phone, tablet, etc.) The Diablo has a fun line-input easter egg that pairs nicely with the RU7’s line-out mode, and that’s worked out pretty well for me. Tanchjim Space works too in place of the RU7, it’s a touch on the harsh side though.
Do you use an extension cable for the RU7 to connect it to the PC?
Nope, I just use the OTG male-to-male usb-c cable that it comes with. All of the devices I use it with have USB-C ports.
Is it just hanging off the back of the PC?
Saturday night good music setup, R8ii+Ice Labs Prismatica with Nostalgia Unicorn Cable. I love how beautiful the 5BA drivers are tuned on the Prismatica. Lovely Vocals, good warmth, good energy up to as well. Loving every bit of this setup.
I should probably clarify. This setup I’m referring to is a laptop (with external monitors) with just usb-c ports. The RU7 is to the right and sits flush. No hanging off edges, here.
