IEM discussion thread (Part 2)

As always, it’s all about the tuning, not the driver count or configuration, or price tag.

I can’t speak on which set would be the most technical out of your bunch, but I do know that the Estrella is damn technical when it comes to detail retrieval, layering and stage width. The hype 4 is also said to be just as technical, which makes sense considering they use a similar driver config and actual drivers inside. E50 BA for example. The Doscinco is less technical but that’s not what it’s going for… best of luck finding the right one!

Thank you. You are very kind. I may try the Ziigaat “Estrella” although I want to compare it with the Mangird Tea Pro a bit more.

The only thing I would say is that the Hype 4 at $400 didn’t seem worth it after listening to it. Is it a good set, yes but not at this price.

To elaborate, Hype 4 compared to Cadenza 4 which cost $200-250, the bass quality is not as good and it doesn’t sound as impressive in terms of details and soundstage.

you are saying cadenza 4 is overall superior regardless of price?

I’m saying that I enjoyed more Cadenza 4 and find it offers more for the cheaper.

However, keep in mind that they are tuned differently.

Was just trying to explain why I thought that Hype 4 was overpriced.

is this in reference to Hype 4 or Cadenza 4? cause I wanted to get Cadenza 4 so if the bass is good on it then I might jump on it earlier on the list maybe

Bass quantity = Hype 4
Bass quality = Cadenza 4
Cadenza is clean with sub-bass emphasis. It does lack some mid bass but it makes it clean. Fun fact, whenever I EQ more bass on C4 the soudstage goes bye bye.

Oh that might be why I didn’t buy it actually

Sounds like it’s basically on the same vein as my Variations and I’m a big EST fan, it’ll be one of those on big sale pick up

Thanks for the heads up and the EW warning basically lol

I’ll just leave this here instead of the deals thread because it is talked about at the moment

The discoveries continue for me and these dadburned IEMs! Good stuff though…

I was listening to the PA02 last night and I started getting discomfort in my left ear. I had foams on them. So I took them off and rolled to the S&S, a tip I have been wanting to try for a while now. I also cable-rolled to the Da Vinci cable so that I could connect to the balanced out of the Liquid Platinum.

Holy shite. These things just sing now. Now I understand the benefit of tip rolling. The S&S tips are really nice. They create great seal and are very comfortable in-ear. Plus, they deliver better bass and incredible mids. Drums and percussion is superb, cymbals sound perfect now. Also, the balanced out of the LP is far superior to the SE out, so a win all around. This mod has taken the PA02 to a whole new level. Crazy…

+1. l would clearly prefer Cadenza 4 over Hype 4 99% of the time, but this would be subjective, and I am sure some would disagree. Luckily we all hear differently😄

S&S are becoming my go-to tips, too, for all the wonderful reasons you mentioned!

Nowadays i’d rather advice to search for subjectively proper frequency responce and maybe use a little EQ if appropriate. Really, things like 7hz Zero 2 or Soratune YI01 can give endgame-like experience depending on what FR you are leaning towards.

Folks, I need your opinion on this. I’ve recently being offered by a buyer for a trade and he is willing to trade his Hidizs MP145 for my DT880 Pro which I don’t use anymore. I am just wondering if the MP145 is a good set or should I look for other options that can be considered for a good trade?
