yeah guess it depends on the driver setup. Ideally they’d be seperate drivers I suppose
Yeah ideally you want separate ones doing each area. But of course that opens its own can of worms of issues lol.
I have been having an enjoyable time getting to know IEMs. Not only have I been tip rolling and cable rolling, all of which make HUGE differences in the presentation, I am now amp rolling!
I have been curious about bringing the TA-20 back into the system as I had a hunch this amp might drive these things well. It’s fantastic! I have the Da Vinci hooked up to it now and this pairing has definite synergy. The PA02, on the other hand, loves the Liquid Platinum. And they ALL love the SH-9! The different nuances and flavors are wonderful. Amps matter!
Indeed, if they are both pumped up, neither stands out, and then mids tend to wrong or recessed.
To my knowledge there isn’t a tuning that gets everything, there is always a trade off somewhere. I do think that if you got too much mids and mid-bass, the stage and imaging seem to suffer.
I think one of the special things about the Aful Explorer was that it managed to keep most of the bass, but did it by sacrificing the treble. That also helps them scale well higher volume and with more power. Once in a while we get to see a new tuning executed well, but those are pretty rare.
hmm, for me with more mid-bass stuff tends to be deeper for me. While more upper-treble usually helps with width.
Never mind on that.
Ok so an another update regarding about the MP145s. Turns out there really is a foam inside on each of the nozzles and I have decided to remove it. After removing the foams, to me the sounds have become much better also more open and wide compared to its initial stock format. I am still experimenting with tip rolling though, and the TRI Clarion tips that I have ordered will arrive at some point and will try those as well.
I tend to agree with this. I think it’s definitely a trade off. I’m liking the bass on Doscinco a lot.
On some track, it can sound like there is not enough sub-bass because of the elevated mid-bass. But overall it’s a well done bassy iem.
Anyone listened to the penon fan 3? I cant seem to find any youtube vids on it. On the penon website the main review seemed like the reviewers had a vested interest.
Or any under $500 bone conductor recs? I am really really interested as some say the BC adds a 3d element- i listen to live show recordings and while the iems i have are good and all different types of tech, i am curious if BC will put those shows over the top.
dude just wanted to say massive respect for rocking the UP, I love my set too.
If I had never put the Variations on my ears and had a female forward library UP would be my number 1
honestly for BC stuff you’re unfortunately gonna have to put your ear into it, I agree it’s 3d but I can’t speak for you since ear shape really factors into it.
I do enjoy mine and if I hadn’t fucked up and bought a vanilla visa gift card I would’ve bought a SHOCK by now lol, I guess Lady Luck had other plans
I love watching and listening to live performances (mostly rock) on “free” youtube, with its shitty quality. Just collected the Fatfreq x HBB Deuce today. Put them on with a cheap dongle and turned up the volume and they’re the closest I’ve ever gotten to feeling that arena/stadium subwoofer experience.
What BC do you have?
Only got Fan3 since I lost my Mext
Ok, so the IER-Z1R kicks serious ass, but now I’m yearning for an IEM with the bass presentation and stage of the Z1R, the mids and treble of my modded AMT16 on foams, and the comfort of a qdc IEM. Speaking of comfort, the Z1R with the large blue KBEAR tips are pretty much a perfect fit for me .
Ah cool, ok so you do have the fan 3. I think reviews and other people’s opinions are always tough to rely on because of the whole every ear is different thing, but listening to people’s experience is still important.
Sorry you lost those iems, those werent cheap! Do you think they were markedly better tech wise than the fan 3? When i move i plan on getting a BC set so the question really is if i need to spend $1000+ to experience it or if something like the fan 3 is a good intro. I guess some might say just get the best set you can afford which might be great advice, but i dont always follow great advice lol. Thanks in advance for your reply and knowledge.
The thing about Fan 3 is that it gets you started into the BC step but I prefer my Mext, it had much better bass and while the highs could get spicy it had a much better tuning for me and was really a great listen.
Mext open in a natural way and sounded great while I believe the fan 3 could sometimes be more open to me it sounded more artificial. I don’t think you’d be able to tell all the time though and it does make for a pretty novel and fun experience.
I believe if you use their code to get a discount on it, it’s basically a no brainer. For BC implementation, absolutely I’d rec giving it at least one shot yeah. I wanted to try the SHOCK at some point too lol.
I don’t plan buying too much from their company but this is one that I thought was worth it
Definitely give Fir Audio a look. I have Z1R and NE4 and I’d have to say they are close with the NE4 having more mids present.
