IEM discussion thread (Part 2)

I am way out of date with current chifi so i cant confidentally rec anything. Im not a big fan of the overall tuning but the simgot iems are very impressive to me though. Such as the EW200 (value champ), EW300 (tribrid implementation) and the EM6L (treble implementation).

ew300 does interest me. might just snag it also if the price is right

It all depends on your library/genres, my guess is that the explorer should work the best (of the ones u mentioned and the simgots I did) for something like rock/metal and hip-hop. While the simgots would be better for pop, classical, OST.

And if you dont need isolation, then of course Rikubuds is my rec.

EW300 was good fun, I enjoyed it as much as I did my S08 but ultimately I gave those two away because my ears are too big for them

I’m more than likely to grab another pair of EW300 though

Ok picking up a FF duce am I a dummy for bass or what lol.

I mostly listen to kpop and jpop with mostly female vocals and busy tracks with occasional laufey and normal pop. I guess cant really go wrong with any of them for the respective price.

so you meant the ew300 is too small for your ear? which do you prefer between s08 and ew300dsp?

yeah I fuckin love mine dude, boy does it slap
I had the impedance adapter on while listening to Alicia Keys’ No one and it was too much bass lmao

both of them suffer from not that great a fit on my ears tbh, I preferred S08 since it was more relaxed but I also liked the EW300, they’re even to me tbh
I will say I owned the EW300 HBB

you can’t go wrong with either, if you can only get one, I’d choose EW300 because tuning nozzles

Simgots will work well. Explorer might lack some spice though judging by the graph, S08 should work better but I probably get a simgot for this.

does the Deuce have that satisfying long decay subwoofer like rumble ?

Out of all my stuff as of recent, it’s the closest one to being as satisfying as my Mext, so yeah I really enjoy it especially when you factor in price

Has anyone used/got thoughts on the Fiio BTR11 or BTR13?

Any user experience info most welcome. Thanks

Strongly considering a BTR13 soon, I’ll share impressions if I go ahead with it!

For the cost I have nothing to complain about the BTR11, been a work companion last weeks. I can notice it lacking some control compared to some cheap dongles, probably due to less power available.

Still it can drive planars line S12 at around 70-80% volume, but volume is not everything.

I’d never heard of the BTR11. Seems a lot cheaper for just skipping the 4.4mm port but of course that isn’t all that was skipped. In their own literature, this sounds like way lower power than I’ve heard of in a long time: “With a built-in high-performance independent ear amplifier and an output power of up to 45mW (16Ω)”. 45mW at 32Ω would be low!

Great price and features for everyday folks listening to everyday buds, although it’s rare for everyday folks to be using wired in the first place and a TWS set that would fit their needs would only be $20 itself.

BUT BUT BUT…

45mw looks so fast

Thanks chap - very interesting - yeah my use case is similar - perhaps a little more for the bag casual IEM emergency prep :joy:

Do you happen to know if it has PEQ through the app? Or even if it uses the Fiio app?
