IEM discussion thread (Part 2)

These look really mesmerizing!

Awesome impressions! Sounds like the Terra really nails that sweet spot between fun and balance—love how you described the bass as “fast and elastic,” that’s such a satisfying quality. Totally get what you mean about it being an all-rounder too—those are rare gems. Shame about the nozzle width though, right on that edge is always tricky. Curious to hear how you’d rank it overall against the Cadenza 12 if you had to pick just one for daily use!

Wow, they look gorgeous!

I’d pick the Terra personally, it’s a tuning I enjoy more. I listen to a wide variety of genres including a fair bit of pop/electrpop/hiphop so appreciate the bass balance on the Terra (more subbass), while vocals and treble extension remain excellent. Here are my full thoughts on the Cadenza 12

That makes total sense, Terra’s sub-bass does seem like a perfect match for that genre mix! Appreciate you sharing your full Cadenza 12 thoughts too, gonna dig into that next!

Got the Crinear Meta from a friend for review.

Hmm, I’ve found both in several sets I enjoy. No need to sacrifice one for the other

KZ AM16 (not my pics).

Real curious about that big ol’ fatty BA but I don’t think we’ll know what it’s actually capable of in a KZ set

Any idea if they’re talking about the old GS Audio model? I haven’t heard those in ages but I don’t remember anything about it being a detail monster haha.

Yes its the GS Audio iem.

They were interesting; not super different from the GT12X but I think they higher-quality drivers shone through beyond the tuning. I had both measured back when I had 'em (don’t remember if @VIVIDICI_111 or @MMag05 did the honors):

Yes they use the sonion 38d1x woofer for example.

BGVP NS10 Pro seems to be a promising one and I might consider getting that one, since many have claimed that the Mega5EST is not much of an upgrade from both the Pilgrims and the Volume S. Also yes, I was able to demo the Mega5EST with my best friend in an audio store and I must say, I love the sounds of the Mega5EST, and for some reason it’s much cleaner than the Volume S though the sub-bass from the Mega5EST is a bit much for me, I don’t know since I only demoed it and not entirely break it in a while like I usually do with my IEMs.

But yeah some neutral set would be cool for me, and there are probably other IEMs that are better to have than the Mega5EST.

I’m listening to them now, the NS10 Pro. I found a 4mm ‘cloth’ filter mellows the upper mids just perfectly for me. The DD and planar are starting to come alive with a few hours

Definite recommend from me. The nozzle is pretty wide but with shallow, wide bore tips I get a fit that’s comfortable for a few hours, not all day but that’s OK. What they do it nice to have in the quiver.

Did you consider Cadenza4?

That I did, along with the Tanchjim Origin as well. But yeah I don’t think there is an IEM currently that is like a direct upgrade from my Volume S or even the Pilgrim, I guess there are none at the moment, and as they say I need to save up more in order to get a particular set that is like higher than the two I have mentioned, but not all IEM brands are accessible to me, so it’s going to be tougher on who is like trying to progress on this hobby.

I am sure there are like neutral sets that I haven’t discovered or known yet , but yeah so far the NS10 Pro seems to be interesting to me right now and they are underrated when it comes to BGVP’s reputation.

The Mega5-EST is a great IEM which you have skipped in our little German community. The mild pinna gain is great thing as most IEMs under the kilobuck price tier still follow the energetic Harman style to gain clarity from the 1-3 khz section.
