IEM discussion thread (Part 2)

Female poison as its called over there is actually a term they use to describe tunning with elevated pinna, its not a con for them.

Perhaps, but I am curious…after all the nonsense I think Butastur was a well tuned IEM.

22 drivers per side

It’s a little more expensive :grinning:. I guess because with this number of drivers and technologies you will hear the voice of God.
Here’s another champion with 22 drivers per side- Rhapsodio Infinity Ultra :smiling_face_with_tear:

At this point, IEM development is starting to resemble that one meme that says ā€˜how many XXXX do you want?’ with the answer being ā€˜Yes’…

So stupid. More is not always more; sometimes less is more.

I’m sure there will be single-DD units in the market that sound as good or better than these.

But much like the ridiculous spec wars with Chi-fi amps and DACs, these companies will try to trick consumers into thinking stuffing as many drivers as possible into a resin or metallic shell will result in better sound.

Hopefully we know better. Maybe these are good, but in general, don’t fall for this BS.

ALL THAT TRULY MATTERS ARE TUNING AND FIT, PEOPLE. If those work for you, it doesn’t matter if a model has one or 1,000 drivers.

Yep… My post is ironic though, if you notice. Personally, I found that AB’s 1DD+4BA swept away most multi-driver IEMs I’ve listened to.

It’s an unapologetically bright IEM.

Most female singers sound very good without the nasty air region artifacts. In my ear canal the resonance peak shifts to around 9 Khz , interesting colourations. Yet not for every genre, specially not for Rock/metal anything is poorly recorded.

(To be clear, female poison term means elevated 2-4k area. Not the upper-treble air region.)

Interesting shell design…

Wonder if the hooks are meant to hook onto your ears, I can see it being very good fit for the ones that work and terrible for the ones that dont.

Usually those hooks are rubber and have various, interchangeable sizes on some TWS models. Brutal if those things are actually resin. It better be a perfect fit, or else …

If you look closely, you can see that the nodules pass over the IEM cable sockets and the cable earplugs, so no interference with people’s ears.

It’s quite controlled in that region. I can’t tolerate much ear gain at that region.

Which model is this? All of them look like they got lots of pinna and treble, just a peaky mess that is no different from their (TFZ) tuning from many years ago…

The oddest looking one
VSA MAX

Although, I need to listen to it again , so far doesn’t sound like the graph anywhere near.

Yeah this thing sure has a spicy treble. Pinna is still high like the others but that is banshee tier treble…

Just saw this.

One of the ancient xiaomi iems afaik. Graph is actually pretty good considering the age and treble is damn similar to the Timeless tuning.
