IEM discussion thread (Part 2)

Iirc it’s called matroshka shipping. They basically discourage customs to check everything by combining a whole bunch of orders into one parcel. They get then seperated again once they’ve entered the EU and passed customs. On top of that they make the paperwork extremely chaotic except for the parts that really matter. They know that most customs offices don’t have the capacity or time to pull everything apart and start checking things. As a result, customs will most likely only pick out those packages that are blatantly problematic (Or in my experence with maritime shipping, only open up containers that have things where they can take a legal ‘sample’. Like alcohol or clothing).
Yun Express and Canaio are quite proficient in these practices, but I’ve recently seen it with DHL too. My Top Pro was sent with express shipping with taxes not paid by Linsoul. They arrived at my doorstep without even a peep from customs.

Same here. Ordered twice from HifiGo (I was naive back then  ). It clearly said that taxes etc were included in the price when you select standard shipping. I always wondered why the price was the same when you selected express shipping where you have to pay taxes/duties (understand why now). Did have a bad experience with the domestic carrier though once Yun handed it over. I wasn’t home at the moment and the package didn’t fit the mailbox. Instead of asking one of my neighbours the guy OPENED it and forced (literally) it through. Luckily, contents weren’t damaged. I actually reported the company to the Inspector General’s office for the postal services because doing so is a crime over here (I suppose it is so everywhere).

I assume its a combination of matroshka and triangle shipping that allows yun express to do this.
(Triangle shipping is when they go from China → EU country with less strict laws → your EU country)

Thanks! I wonder how long it’ll take for the EU to draw up legislation prescribing how parcels should be presented to customs so that they can flat out reject matroshka shipments. Though that would require ages for the legislative process alone to be completed so we’re good for now probably

Peeps, since I am getting the Defiants soon, can any of you give me some tips or heads up on what to expect about it? Like any tip rolling recommendations? I cannot wait for it to arrive and I am trying my best to not get hyped on what I hear about it so I can come up with my own conclusion.

Mine are also on the way :star_struck::hot_face::exploding_head:

I know this is a bit of a long shot but would anyone be willing to let me test either one or a couple of IEMs in the $300-$500 range? I’m in the deep south in the states and have no access to test any IEMs, i’ve been wanting to upgrade for about 2 years now and every time I get something new it just feels like a waste of money and I have to go through the waiting of process of the refund after I send a pair back and it’s just getting exhausting. I’ve been wanting to hear the Mega5-EST really bad and that’s quite a lof money to just throw on a blind buy, I understand if no one wants to help with this but man I would REALLY appreciate it

how much $ ?

good question  should be ~2300€, I am not even 100% sure as i had some store credit after four defective Legend Evos lol
Should get an invoice soon i guess

Where did you buy them?

I arranged my preorder via Audiogeeks Group and Audioessence (.ch) ordered them for me from Letshuoer.
Don´t know if they will list it in their shop once released but when your are EU based you can always ask Tom to order them for you, his customer service is outstanding!

PS: You can also always ask Jon from LS (@Jon_let) , he will help you for sure as he proved to be the friendliest and most patient rep ever during this whole process, taking care of a bunch of picky audiophiles with special wishes is no joke

Received this stunning looking piece of equipment from EarAcoustic Audio CHINA , but here’s the best part - the aesthetics is not even the most unique thing about this IEM - it’s the tonality.

It is marketed as “Ultimate Female Toxicity”. And for the few hours I listened to it, it does provide something to the cluster of listeners that they are targeting for the most part. Now I don’t think I can review this IEM with my general test tracks since they pushed the “Female Vocal Specialist” branding so much. So I need you to provide me your favourite female vocalists so I can test that on a good enough sample size.

Have you ever gone through the process of selecting program materials for your audio test / review? If you have done so then you would’ve noticed how some IEM that are not typically tuned, cater to a definitive genre of music that makes it distinctive from other peers at the same price point. I will make a video about this topic - explaining why certain Companies don’t let you play songs of your choice in their systems too & how some tonal colourations boost the enjoyment factor that otherwise would look displeasing.

Until then, I will be rocking this IEM with a lot of female toxicity in me than usual.:wilted_flower:

I think they mean they will repel women around the wearer
