Maybe I’ll sell my Valhalla and buy (nearly) both of them ![]()
I’ve been seeing a ton of these up for sale on the classifieds lately, and I just can’t understand why. These are some of the most memorable IEMs I’ve ever heard. Do people just get bored of the sound, I wonder? How do you feel about your pair?
Z likes everything. It’s how he makes money. He’s an audio influencer, not a reviewer.
I feel that’s true for a lot of the channels out there tbh.
I don’t know how to explain it but I think Valhalla sound is “too perfect” like a BMW compared to a Pagani or a Lotus. I know it can be difficult to understand but they don’t give me any emotion. And this absolutely doesn’t mean that they sound bad but they have no soul. Consider that my tastes are on the bright side. My favourites iems, at the moment, are Anole VX and Unique Melody Jet Black. And obviously is only my opinion.
I’ve tried both, BGVP Solomon is brighter to my ears and almost to that piercing point. Dawn-X is a great all rounder that does a lot of things well without leading a general category. I’d go with Dawn-X over Solomon.
Ohp, thanks @Ohmboy didn’t realize that went over here
I think that’s a fair assessment. I guess the sound just hit me in a special way. It could have been the CanJam environment too. I wonder how they’d sound if I were at home, in a slower and quieter environment… It’s an interesting thing to think about.
The Jet Black is a really cool-sounding IEM. Those are super engaging so I understand why they’d be one of your favs.
You don’t think Dawn-X would be “boring” like Valhalla if the other two is his favorites atm? ![]()
Warm, gooey, smooth and wonderful…but if one’s tastes are on the brighter side, maybe not so wonderful. I don’t see a scenario where I’d cut em loose. I do think that Valhalla comes alive at a volume where some may not want to go for extended listens…. for me , that’s where the magic is.
Damn someone in my server modded his q5k (dead battery) to a new (smartphone) battery at 5000 mah from the old one at 500 mah.
Alright, time to wake this thread up a bit.
We got a tight-knit group here on this website now, so I wanted to share my review of the CZ10 with y’all. I wrote it up and structured it over on Head-Fi, and quite frankly, I don’t have the time today to restructure here on this site, so please follow the link to check it out. Much appreciated!

The tax exemption you mentioned in HBB’s thread kicks in over a certain value here in Norway too, with all sorts of different fees from different shipping companies😅.
I like that set, I think it’s a great budget set. It has a lot of nice clarity and has a nice builld quality.
Agreed and agreed, brother
Yea, in Denmark it’s “no mercy” these days, anything from outside EU, more or less, will be fined. But it seems there are some retailers that manage to avoid it.
We also used to have a value limit that would trigger it.
Aggressive bass cut = No interest from me. I guess they wanted to go with a vocal centric set this time around, which is fine, but how many ‘Neutral with a bass boost’ sets are we going to get before 2026? Jesus Christ. It’s getting out of hand!
It’s kinda odd, but looking at that graph I think it’s less a midbasss cut (looks to be even at it’s lowest point with the mids @ 1khz) and more of a baby-bump in the lower mids, to add some warmth to male vocals? I dunno, it’s not an amazing graph IMO but it looks like it’ll be worth hearing what people hear from the actual IEMs to know for sure.
Edit: look at more comparison graphs @ 60db, maybe it is a cut? Weird, but again I’m curious to see how it “comes out in the wash”.
Maybe a tad “Brain Damage” esque?
That’s a good find there. I was thinking it was similar to the OG Monarchs but even those didn’t have such an aggressive cut in the lower mids. I did like the BDs, I have to be honest. Now that’s an interesting comparison…
