I think they simply need less funds tied up in stock. This way they get an “advance” instead??

It definitely is common nowadays. Even Gilette did it with their King Gilette razor. It probably serves a double purpose: determining market interest and outsourcing part of the development costs to the prospective buyers. But doing so for established brands makes them look cheap IMO.

They’ve never done this with another of their previous releases and it’s not like it’s a £5k set so I’m pretty sure they know their market enough to gauge how many $200 sets they can shift

While they’ve never done it afaik, there is precedence for other established companies doing it before them; to my knowledge, either Harmonicdyne and/or Sendy have done it, as have Hidizs and ADV at a minimum.

There are couple of IEMs from HE. Never saw any review or any thoughts on these sets. There is one that is actually up there around 180$ tribrid. I saw the marketing for this set, it is heavily promoted as great entry budget IEM for people starting the hobby.

Oh yeah this is the semi open 1 DD set. Was the first released if I am not wrong. How is it? Worth it compared to something similar in that price range? Btw wanted to try some flatheads myself but still haven’t decided on that

I’m not really up to speed with 1DD sets at this price but Xiao Qiao is a pretty solid easy listen. Bass is there for sure but can get a bit crowded which leads it to being somewhat indecisive/blurred between sub and mid. Mids are good but favour female over male. Treble is detailed with a good bit of sparkle without ever getting fatiguing even at louder listening levels. Sound stage and imagining are pretty good too considering the price.

AFUL Explorer. I’ve been listening to this set today!
It’s smooth, warm, and yet incisive, with a mid bass tilt and refined midrange. Not the most spacious, but also not intimate, with peek a boo style treble, that’s more on a lower treble focus than upper treble or air, but this set is not stuffy. This is one that’s musical, bordering on lush, and one of the first meta tuned sets that really caught fire with the community, after the success of the HiSenior Mega5EST. Shell is so tiny (it’s a 1DD + 2BA hybrid) and so extremely comfortable, you forget these are in your ears. Not to mention the shells are gorgeous as hell, and in my opinion, the best looking AFUL shells of all-time (some will fight for the Cantor Starry Night, and for good reason, but that design has been copied quite a few times, including recently with the Noble Van Gogh).
Been really enjoying this set listening to some chill jazz, and the synergy is through the roof good.
