IEM discussion thread (Part 2)

Appreciate the sacrifice - really interested to your thoughts on them! I have got them on my radar as a potential next purchase, in contention with the Hype 4, Xenns Up, and ISN EST50. It’s just a pain that whereas I am happy to wait with all the others to see what else comes out and to wait for deals, it seems like the best price to buy the TSMR X is now - discounted price seems likely to end 25 Feb.

Sadly the dark arts of marketing do have their sway…

Yeah, I was also considering the ISN EST50 and Penon 10th (something intreaguing about the EST drivers), but liked the flexibility the switches seem to offer on the TSMR X and people seem to think the highs are well executed, even without it having ESTs.

I also fell for their marketing shenanigans. FOMO got the best of me and  gone were my savings towards upgrading my panar over-ears. :expressionless:

Will definitely share my impressions, can’t wait to get my hands on 'em.

Ziigaat Doscinco IEM Review & Sound Demo: An Isobaric Revelation

Before anyone asks, yes the review speech is ai generated there are some funny pronounciations. Review text is my own.
Creating videos is so damn time consuming and this is only a hobby for me. So with that out of the way, Enjoy!

Nice! I like the shells on those too. What API are you using for TTS in your video?

I want to start making a list of standard speaker building terms that have been around for 50 years that are presented by IEM manufacturers as revolutionary innovations . Here they’ve strapped the two DDs to a closed volume, a la DIY Isobaric speaker design - with examples - Audio Judgement Glad to hear it worked out nicely.

Some other items for the list: passive radiators, and damped/resistive ports.

Best and most natural sounding engine I came across yet.

Yep. This is the first AI voice generator I’ve heard that sounds even remotely human.

Nice review, BTW.

Thinking about the under €250 market and it’s recent developments how does an ex mid tier stack up against the EA1000, OD200, Falcon Ultra, etc…

Eg. Is an OG Dunu SA6 worth €200 in today’s market?

The BA-only market has not moved much since the SA6 came out tbh.
I think its only the Hisenior T4 and the Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite that are the well known ones that came after it (and the orchestra lite is probably VERY different from the SA6).

Movement in BA sets is only at the multi thousands dollar level.

At $1000 and under it’s more tuning than tech

Yeah, chifi-creep with BA iems are much much much slower than other tech. (due to knowles/sonion pricing.)

If only some ex Knowles employees started their own company with cheaper BAs… oh wait that happened already

And got smashed for it lol

Any idea of how the EPZ 620 or 530 measures up? Or would you say a 530 also pretty much like a SA6?

Nah very different:

Dunno about the SA6 but I do think the Aful P5 at $200 makes the Moondrop Dusk at $330 obsolete
Both are 1DD, 4BA and graph similar

Don’t forget Chopin at $200

Speaking of BA’s, Might be a bit of an unpopular opinion but I quite enjoyed the AFUL MagicOne. It did take to completely uncover the bore and put it as deep as possible but when it hit it hit. That and mid to higher listening levels.

Does anyone have any info on the AFUL Cantor. I have not tried the P5/8 but am very interested to see how their new flagship sounds.

The Kiwi Ears Orchestra light was good but had some weird dip in the upper Mids. Would love to try any of the SA6 line with that flatter upper mid region on all but the OG.

Lets hope we don’t run into an issue with transducers like we did with the AKM factory so many years back.

Any recs for an amp with balanced input under $350? Only to be used with iems in conjunction with different sources. i am trying to avoid a dry, cold and analytical sound.

@SuPeR.UsEr1 I just got an JDS atom 2. It’s like 130 or something silly cheap. Very nice scource.

A Singxer SA-1 could be had used for that much. Maybe overkill for IEMs though, in the power department. Used singxer sa 1 for Sale | HifiShark.com
