IEM discussion thread (Part 2)

If you have an iPhone just get Pods pro 1 or 2 and the moisture problem is solved. The sound is not like Storm, but for fitness it is perfect!

Actually pretty fun, ngl. bass intensifies

I wonā€™t bother with anything but live monitors like the 8SL or budget stuff to the gym. Scared of sweat/moisture leaking into them :fearful: .

not a fan of TWS buds and also no iPhone here so its a hard pass on the APPs

Iā€™m not a fan of TWS either, but they are fine for fitness. Iā€™m guessing you donā€™t want to put a $1000+ IEM in your ears in fitness. By the way, all wired IEMs are inconvenient for fitness, FACT! :grinning:

Another thing to keep in mind is that I doubt you be able to appreciate the difference of a budget iem vs kilobuck when you are focusing on your gym activities.

Thatā€™s exactly what Iā€™m saying. :+1:

Personally I would stick with something like the TRN BT20XS + Blon 03 for the gym. total cost of 50 usd ish.

If one of them dies it be only like 25 usd loss instead of a few hundred dollars. I wouldnt need to have a heart attack if I drop it in the gym or bump into something, etcā€¦

Please donā€™t be that Watercooler dude who dropped something like Storm on a hike, and lost an over-$3000 set.

Iā€™ll have secondhand anxiety if youā€™re using something expensive for gymwear lol

This is why we have Apple air pods pro 2 and Samsung Galaxy buds pro 2. So easy.

You are correct about that which is why Im not sold on these for my use. Having said that I care less about money (to an extent) and more about fit for the gym. If it requires a $100-200 IEM to get the right fit I donā€™t mind dropping that, especially cause my other use cases are enjoying walks where I do care about sound quality a lot more

I would disagree only because TWS adapters can be very comfy. My main issue is that the ones I already have (UTWS3) are MMCX and using the MMCX to 2 pin adapter really hurts the fit

Iā€™m not too worried about losing them as much as them breaking from sweat. I have never had an issue with ear securiy with the TWS adapters like I have with TWS buds

haha there is a big difference between the Storm and the Plunge Unity although I agree, Im not looking to use a $600 set at the gym. $200 tops

All this gym IEM talk haha :joy:
I actually am using the awful P5 and utws5 at the gym but I donā€™t sweat too much well especially not my head. Oh but thatā€™s for lifting weights. For cardio I use TWS though. The Sony ones right now.

Oh but I have met people that used kilobuck IEMs in the gym. I think one guy was using the first gen campfire Andromedas. Thatā€™s actually how I got introduced to IEMs lol. I thought everything was buds so I was like ā€œoh are they like airpods?ā€ And the guy was like ā€œbroā€¦ I have so much to teach youā€ :joy:

Haha call me a freak but the Apple Powerbeats Pro are my go to gym set. Iā€™m way too focused at the gym to care about quality and with them being an Apple product I love the integration to iOS. I sweat like a mad man on my outdoor workouts here in Florida so them being IPX rated is a really nice bonus. Thereā€™s also been a few walks and runs where Iā€™ve got caught in the typical Florida afternoon rain shower.

Done with the mod shenanigans.

  • Turned the Legato into a monster without screwing up the mids in my estimation, but itā€™s headache inducing on bassy tracks after a minute-or-two. Glad to figure out my limits before committing to one of those bassy TOTL sets.
  • Matched up my Z12 using the old/ā€œprotoā€ glamdring method to the MP145 w/ foams to the best of my ability. More of a toss-up than I gave the Z12 credit for, honestly. Granted, theyā€™re right in each otherā€™s price range. I might have to pick up a Shortbus set now that I hear the potential.

How are these compared to AirPods pro 2? Do you know? Soundwise I mean?

I use the Sennheiser TW3ā€™s for workouts. Never had any issues with sweat, drops on floor etc. Can be had for under $200 and the app means you can tune them really well. ANC is also above average too.

The driver config is also a bit misleading. If you scroll down to the Description, it goes into more detail lol.

ā€œ12.Driver unit: 2BA+2DD+2EST(1BA+1DD+1EST in L and 1BA+1DD+1EST in R)ā€

Edit: This thing is magical. I scrolled down further and it says it is also waterproof with active noise cancelling.

Seems there are a few unheard of IEMs springing up just in time for the sale season:

Never heard of Motie before either:
