Hi all
I am looking at purchasing an iem, I currently have a cca cra+ and enjoy the sound but am looking for the next step
My main music genre is progressive rock, rock, instrumental and soundtracks
With this in mind I was considering the Iems below which after reading through this forum all seem to be well liked,
Mele
T3+
Olina (I would mod these probably)
S12
Kato
The kato are at the top of my budget
I enjoy sound which has a good level of detail, I do enjoy that bass kick but not at the expense of becoming boomy or drowning out the mids and I do like a wider soundstage or that feeling of being immersed in the sound
I have an external dac so not too concerned power wise,
If you want greater immersion, I think you should look at hybrid, Tribrid or all-BA sets.
I always found that single DD sets never disappear meaning you’re always aware that music is played through a medium. Transparency and purity of tone is lacking.
It’s just too much for a single driver to handle.
The brain can knit together a soundstage from 20 different drivers remarkably well but it seems to be more sensitive to the distortion of single driver setups.
TRI Starsea would be a contender for you. It has great mids and good soundstage, for sure. Plus with the tuning options, you have ways to play with the sound and get a fun V-shape sound, much closer to neutral, and then even fulll neutral-bright, depending on what you’re in the mood for.
It’s definitely like having 3 IEMs in 1, for less than the S12 or Kato.
