IEMs are ruining my headphone experience

Would be nice, they sell their own upgrade cable that’s pretty good but admittedly that should probably come stock with their higher end iems lol

So, recently i got speakers again from a friend. And they are amazing, just super enjoyable and great for my room since they are tiny speakers but sound fantastic. However due to that my headphones slowly started to feel more reduntant, they still sounded great but it felt like why even? Since the speakers were obviously my preference, not to mention that in terms of enjoyment i really enjoyed some 18 dollar bluetooth sony buds over the Nighthawks lol (I assume due to the difference in presentation it was just more engaging) So I eventually sold my Nighthawks, and then also sold my Elegia (which were my last headphone) because to be honest i found myself listening to music on my speakers or on my buds. that was it. I thought i might be done with audio until i heard the hype of the Fiio Fh3 and was told by M0N that i might enjoy it, so here i am lol. I don’t know if i’m ready to say yet that in terms of just sound i PREFER IEMs but i will say that with this setup i don’t miss headphones one bit. Just super easy to hook up my Fh3 to my xduoo and rock on (not really because i don’t usually listen to rock lol). I think that IEMs easily compete with headphones in terms on pure enjoyment and i hope to one day get an IEM that competes with stuff like the Elex in everyway!!!

I definetly look forward to trying higher end iems haha

There are actually quite a few of us that are reformed and not really looking back any time soon.

As long as you can look past the comfort (if that is an issue for anyone), I think the performance you get for the price places it as really good value. The presentation is certainly different, but I also prefer it over headphones.

With my recent foray into higher end IEM’s I can see the appeal.

There is going to be a lot of personal preference in it.

Honestly the Saarda won’t replace any of my headphones or stop me listening to them, but they are a very enjoyable experience, and there are places I prefer the IEM presentation to the Headphone presentation. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly I prefer the IEM’s presentation for orchestral pieces, and a lot of 60’s and 70’s remasters when they insist on sticking instruments entirely in either the Left or Right channel.

They were good enough for me to pick up a better portable amp.

Comfort for me at least isn’t an issue with the Saada’s, it is with some other IEM’s.

Lol feels more cultish than even the hawk gang haha

It is very engaging, and I’ve heard that it’s better dollar by dollar in terms of price but sadly at my range I don’t know about that lol. I need someone with experience of IEMs 500 and under to guide me!

I dont think I can get past the fact the IEMS have too much seal I like open backs a lot and basically need the feeling of hearing the outside world wherever I am usually, with the exception of the bus and subway. IEMS at home psychologically give me issues makes me feel claustrophobic and uncomfortable even open back IEMs I cant get past the comfort issue why I explore buds a lot. IEM are awesome when I need space at work and make my own little circle around me just for escape. but in my leisure time anywhere else Its really hard for me to wanna pick up an IEM even on walks or sitting at the park or doing a hike I will usually just pick up one of my buds or koss’s

but fact of the matter is law of siminishing returns on headphones hits pretty hard and doesnt change oftej but on IEMS the peak point of law of siminishing returns is constantly moving up and down

Not sure I agree with this, I honestly haven’t listened to a lot of IEM’s, the BL03’s, T2/T4’s, some Etymotic ER3XR, and the Saardas.
But pretty much just like headphones, for the most part there were obvious jumps in the price tiers.
I do think at the lower tiers, with a few notable exceptions, you can get a lot more in IEM’s for your dollar. But I think a lot of that is just the shear breadth of choice.

true its alos a lot easier to find a specific IEM that fits your particular preferance due to that amount of choice. and you can easily diversify a collection due to it as well

that’s pretty interesting! never thought about it that way, makes sense i guess

Yea, IEMs have officially ruined the headphone experience lol.

Highly recommended pairing. Hyla Sarda + QP2R via 2.5mm balanced out. Got some cage the elephant playing during work and just realizing again how good these things are.

Have you tried cable rolling on them or enjoying stock at the moment?

Done some cable rolling. Not super effective so far. Only have a capistrano cable, ares II, and stock pw audio stuff. Getting the Eros II soon, so I’ll try that out (though that’s more meant for the grace).
