Hello. I am looking for a pair of IEMS that are good for music and gaming (more emphasis on the music part). I would prefer to not spend too much above $150 but willing to go above if they are good enough to justify it in my head. I mostly listen classical, piano, JPop, and anime/game osts. Any help provided will be immensely appreciated.
Manys thanks!
I’m a gamer also in Destiny 2 and not just into music. For double duty the ones I really remember being good at both:
I have these currently and they’re worth their price all day long for versatility
Moondrop Starfield (haven’t tried the II version, these are so good)
Moondrop Kato (better, if you can find a good deal on them)
Also the soundstage on the Seeaudio Yume II is really excellent for gaming because it has depth and not just width.
Whichever you get, the Dunu S&S tips will bump out the soundstage at the tradeoff of mids being recessed a little at 600hz. Equalizing up a little in a music player by +2db is worth it though if you like the soundstage effect for gaming.
Thank you for the recommendations! My only concern with the two moondrop products you listed is that I have heard people say that the paint chips on the starfield and that the Kato scratches easily. Have either of these been an issue for you?
If you dont need isolation as well, you should look at flathead/earbuds instead.
I would need some isolation to get rid of other noises. I might also use them out and about some times.
Consider trying the Qian39, thats around 10-20 usd on aliexpress, to see if you like buds. @John_W_Clark would probably say the same I bet nowadays.
Although it has been awhile since I last had earbuds in my ears, I don’t exactly remember them being comfortable. Because of this, I will say that I will most likely not go for buds/flatheads.
Are you perhaps thinking of earbuds from like 20 years ago?
Nope. Past 5 years.
Yes indeed, I think the Qian39 is incredible and is my first rec for earbuds. I also think the Yincrow X6 is fantastic, and typically under $10.
Faaeal makes a bud for nearly anyone, the Iris 2.0 is a bass boosted neutral ( and my fav from them ), if you want more bass the Iris Ancestor, and for a general warm tuning the Snow Lotus.
hmm, do you remember which set it was? (and did you use foam on them?)
The qian39 is probably the most comfortable shell/fit out there and is cheap to try.
I don’t remember which pair it was (probably cheap throwaway pair), so I don’t really remember too much about it. All I really remember is that the felt awkward in the ear due to the circular shape. That reason is one of the main reasons why I am looking for an IEM over a flathead. Another is that I would like to be able to prevent most sound leakage and remove background noise so I could wear them in public.
aa, ok if you want to use them outside then i would definitely avoid buds.
Any suggestions for IEMs or are you more of a bud kind of guy?
I am an expert in both I say lol.
But not very up to date with the latest chifi iems, but I do think that the simgot iems will be a good pick for gaming and the genres you specified. I have some comparisons on their iems in my own thread here.
Do you know how good the Simgot EM6L would be for what I am looking for? I see that they are recommended well for games but unsure of how good they are for my music tastes?
You can look at squiq link super reviews and discuss in here .Any problem we will help .
You can give your sounding preference so I and other could give the best option ,for me back to basic after try 1 balance ,1 bass line kz d-fi custom preference .Because there are trick to enhance it ,if you andriod user , wavelet the first option place for basic setup dsp control features ,second james dsp good features lack of function ,third one poweramp eq ,cons lack of features than option 1,2 .
I prefer slightly neutral sounding headphones. I use the Sennheiser 6xx headphones and enjoy the sound of them, but if the IEMs I get are slightly off from that I won’t care.
XPG great option tu .
