Hi All
I got the iFi Zen Dac V1.
It is hooked up via USB.
Installed the drivers from the iFi Site.
Do i need to change the firmware as well? I see my version is saying v7.20 and one on site is March 2021 V7.0
What did you guys do to get most out of it? Is there any tips and tricks?
Thank you all.
Maybe you should contact iFi support? I’ve found they’re pretty responsive.
if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
Higher the firmware version the newer it is.
So 7.20 is newer than 7.0.
Not necessarily true for us! We have different types of firmware that offer different capabilities and often, sound signatures. 7.3 is different than 7.2, and so on.
You can find the differences on our downloads section upon input of a serial number on our site, and if you feel the need to reach out to our support please do.
The Zen DAC is a beauty since it’s so plug and play, please don’t feel a need to change things because they’re generally aren’t one! 7.0 is the stock firmware Zen DACs come with these days
@sebastien_chiu_iFi just trying to find out if it is sounding like it should, if that makes sense? I did the serial number and found the V7 is on there to download with benefits and also the OTG that will not work anymore. Also bought PSU 5v 1Amp. But i can not hear anything different so using USB as power now as well.
Is it not weird that is stays there and not go to 100?
Am i missing something here maybe?
Regards
That’s just dumm from the general view how updates are usually informed…
You could as well name files or firmwares differently.
“Stock” - then explaining what is is.
“Bright” -tuned for more crispy sound or other nonsense.
