Ikko oh10 bit of a let down

I got these today, I’ve been a/b -ing them against my T3 plus and zsn pro, now without sounding crazy, I’m finding the sound difference to the zsn pro minimal, I’ll tell you my findings between the two, bear in mind this is $15 Vs $180, slight wider stage on the oh10 not much just a little bit, treble on both is very similar, bit more on the zsn pro and can’t really notice much difference in the quality of the treble, mids more resessed on oh10, slightly more bass on the zsn pro,

Overall, the zsn pro are more harsh when at the same volume, EQ could sort that, detail retrieval can’t notice any difference, don’t know what cheap BA is in the zsn pro but it’s competing with the Knowles in the oh10, and the zsn has a slightly cheaper sound to it but tbh Id be hard pressed to tell them apart if I did not know which I was listening to.

I’m a bit gutted as I expected a big jump up in sound quality :frowning:.

only kz set I’ve tried and found worth keeping is the Crin collab (waiting on the HBB collab to arrive) some of others while usually good for the price I found to be lackluster compared to higher offerings.
I do have the T3 plus and find the OH10’s to be a step up over them (not mind blowing but noticeably better).
I got my OH10’s on sale for around $130 and they will likely stay in my collection as they trade blows with things in higher price ranges like the 7HZ Timeless (prefer one for certain songs/music types and one for others)

Sorry to hear that u don’t like it.

I own OH10 for few months now & I’m loving it. The best iem i own yet.

Recently got the Azla Xelastec tips & the sound improve alot, especially the bass.

But i won’t suggest u got that, cuz that might be a waste of money since u already don’t like OH10.

Hopefully u can sell it off, and get ur money back :+1:

Same. I was planning to get either Timeless, Kato or Hana2021, and while they all have their strong points (except Timeless. I really don’t like it ), OH10 stands out to mee.

The wide airy soundstage, energetic treble & most of all, that sweet, loving, embracing, plenty yet non overwhelming bass. Dear lord is it addicting.

Every time i go to sleep I’m excited to wake up tomorrow, so that i can listen to my OH10.

I currently all 4 but selling Kato might sell Hana2021 (fit for me isn’t great) next one I’m looking at is the 7HZ Eternal.
only thing I don’t like about the Timeless is the planar bass (which is actually hard to notice when you haven’t listened to a dynamic recently)

Yup. Same. The bass in Timeless isn’t hitting hard enough. HANA2021 isn’t a basshead iem, but to me it’s bass is more satisfying & fullfiling.

Then the treble, especially the sound of drum snare & female vocal on Timeless just pales in comparison to Kato.

I’m not saying it’s bad, but i find other iem does better in certain aspects. If i want neutral natural iem, Kato is a better choice. And if i want more fun without sacrificing details, there’s Hana21.

It’s not that they sound bad, they are a nice sounding iem, bit harsh on rock and the like tho, But the zsn pro is so close to the sound of the oh10, oh well diminishing returns I geuss, back to Amazon they go, I was tempted by the timeless as well but not sure if I should bother now, it seems that the $200 range is only a small jump up from budget gear.

Interesting, to me the T3 plus sounds better on most tracks, more rich and full bodied.

Yeah. If u happy with ur kz, u can just stay with them. There’s no need to upgrade to higher price iem

What matter is how u like it, how u enjoy it. If the one u like is kz, that can just as well be ur endgame :+1:

What others like doesn’t necessarily be the right one for us.

Lots of people love blon 03 & timeless. I don’t

Sell the blon straight away after trying it for few times. It’s just isnt for me.

We all have our preferences

This is insane timing. Just the other night I went from my ZSN pro to my Timeless within 20 seconds and I sat there for a song or two telling my self “holy shit…. There really isn’t THAT much of a difference …” don’t get me wrong, I prefer the timeless for sure, it’s definitely of higher quality plus the fit on the timeless works well for me, but damn … for 10x more money, you definitely don’t get 10x the quality.

It’s important to note that I use an upgraded cable on my KZs and that definitely has a difference in the sound over the stock cable, but still. The total package is about $45 compared to my timeless which was $235 with the Tripowin Jelly cable.

Diminishing returns hits HARD, man. Stick with the KZs until you’re ready to drop above $500 I’d say. $200-500 is a deep price bracket in this hobby and like others have Said, the diminishing returns in that area is insane.

I find the technicalities and speed of the timeless to be stellar compared to cheaper sets really stands out with fast paced music with lots going on
But yeah budget sets have been getting better and better with chifi competition being the cluster it is and the companies competing with themselves as well lol

Got the timeless today, now they were the upgrade I was looking for, similar tuning to the T3 plus but just sound so much better, those oh10’s were horrendous, synthetic BA treble that blasts your ears on most tracks and vocal were way off tone, if the oh10 are $180 then from what I’m hearing the timeless could easily be $400, no more iem’s for me for a good while

@Bootleg dude!! That’s awesome, congrats. It’s hard finding that temporary end game set, I found it in the timeless as well! Enjoy brother :handshake:

I really like the timber of planar sets too, I still think Timeless is my favorite IEM currently. It is always great to find a set you connect with and get that sense of having fun with the music.

It is interesting that you posted this, because I have always been curious about the OH10, since there was a time it was the best basshead set.

I just got the Olina, and I am really enjoying that, but I have been pondering a hybrid and just not sure what I want, and the price tag for good hybrids tend to higher than good DD sets.

Glad u found the one u like :+1:

This is what i meant when we have our personal preferences, cuz i don’t like Timeless

I think Hana21 have better bass & Kato have better details & treble. For me Timeless stuck in the middle with nothing outstanding compare to those 2. I especially don’t like how drum snare and high pitch females vocal sound on Timeless.

Hana21 was my leading choice before i went for OH10 simply cuz it has more bass.

But happy for u now that u got ur (temporary) endgame :+1:

if you can get a OH10 for $130 imo it’s a stellar deal

I agree. I saw drop selling it 139$. But at 130 it’s amazing value

Just be sure to be clear with what OH10 is. It’s a true blue blooded V shaped iem. Bass & treble boosted with slightly recessed mids.

Set the expectations right, to avoid buyer’s remorse

I assume that is the super-duper price for them. They are $149 currently, which isn’t bad vs the full price of $200. It seems like they have two discount levels on their sales. I got the HD58X for $129 which was also a super deal.

Timeless sounds superb to me with hipdac, bass boost on.

Mhm, yeah the snare hits lack attack, sounds a bit fuzzy.
