I love these balanced on my BTR5. I take them out for walks most afternoons, and the wider sound stage makes the music feel out in front of me while I walk. I now find other IEMs clostrophobic while I walk. But at my desk I run them on both a Schiit Asgard 3 and a Geshelli Erish. I honestly like them better on the A3. I definitely can hear the source difference though them, and no magic to balanced. The single ended A3 just sound better to me.
I ended up wiring all my IEMs 2.5mm balanced, and purchased a full set of adapters to stay flexible:
Interesting. I tried high gain, volume level 20 through 2.5 balanced cable on the btr5 and the volume sounds very low to me. I had to raise it up to at least level 30-32 for clarity and details to be more pronounced. Do you like keeping it that low or do I have a high tolerance to higher volumes or am I going deaf lol?
First double check bluetooth volume setting on your source. I have bluetooth turned up to max on my phone.
Then BTR at 20 with high gain.
But as you said, it could be differences in hearing, or possibly differences in source content. For comparison sake I’m playing Little Black Submarine by the Black Keys via Tidal, phone bluetooth volume at max, BTR volume at 20, and it’s almost too loud. This is consistent with the little sound pressure level calculation the Fiio BTR app does.
Sorry, I forgot to mention this piece of information. I was using it as a usb DAC. I’m assuming now that is the reason for the volume differences, correct? I was also using tidal for my music.
Loved the OH10’s when I had them in my circulation. I found their fit/weight bearable, and actually found them preferable from a fit perspective to the Tin T4’s, until I tried some more alternatives (namely Blessing 2 and Thieaudio Monarch).
Still - awesome sub bass and overall very engaging sound signature, with a nice stage to boot.
Finally received my OH10 today … after almost 3 months shipping and customs and ugliness.
I have to admit – it’s instant love for me.
I find them incredibly beautiful. Fit was instantly perfect. They’re heavy. Feels like they weigh more than all other iems combined that i have. But after a few mins i dont notice the weight anymore.
The low end is … amazing. So much fun, such a welcome alternative to my P1, Z10 Pros, Bl05s … even the teas (though i gotta admit that I still struggle with the fit of the Teas … the nozzle is just huge for my ears).
From a brief first impression the Teas and the P1 provide more details and are much more neutral than the OH10. But the OH10 is simply pure fun.
And they’re incredibly easy to drive im running them balanced through my ifi zen can – low gain 8-9 o’clock is loud enough.
Hey guys. Are these still competitive in 2022 for the price?
I’m looking to buy a set with good bass and natural timber for sludge/stoner, hardcore, and prog. Judging from the reviews, Ikko OH10 should fare well with these genres.
