Would love to hear some local HFGF feedback on this set :+1:

Only a quicker demo of it but it reminds me of a prophile 8 with a bit better technical ability, a more spacious and larger presentation, a bit more warmth, better treble refinement (the prophile a bit of sluggishness in the treble that doesn’t seem noticable here) and still pretty precise and studio like. Enjoyable upgrade from the prophile 8 given you aren’t using it mainly for studio, but it’s not a big step forward

Signature wise it’s pretty neutral forward overall but with a bit of extra warmth in the low end and a slight bit of added air on top becoming a very slight u shape imo, very well balanced and remains engaging despite it’s more no nonsense voicing overall. Coherency is great and it also has a slight smoothness that doesn’t interfere with anything either. Time domain over all is very good, it represents transients pretty well although is slightly only slightly slower than what I’d want for the money, but it still sounds fairly organic, timbre is good but not amazing for the price, resolution is solid but not outstanding but it presents it extremely well so that makes up for it, dynamically it’s very balanced here for both macro and micro as it ends up being very lively without being overstated or unnatural. Spatially it’s good but not super stand out, although it’s placement is pretty organic and it’s separation is pretty accurate too, but it’s not that wide nor is it as stand out deep either so somewhat more average there. It has pretty great control overall, impact is good but slightly on the lighter side, as is tonal density.

Overall it’s an iem that I don’t think excels too much at one specific aspect but strikes an overall impressive balance that other iems haven’t imo. Source gear wise I didn’t get to try a ton of things on it, but it seemed like it reacted somewhat similarly to the prophile perhaps a slight bit more picky, but compared to other iems is slightly forgiving in pairing with most nice sources, although I personally would avoid brighter leaner sources otherwise you can push it into analytical territory. Also stock cable is pretty meh so I’d personally get a nicer one to get more out of it

:beers: buddy …how does it compare to the ES Grace IYO?

Hmmm very different iems, the grace skews much warmer and relaxed with less extension in the treble and a rounded bass focus signature wise, much more tonally dense and weighty but not overdone, timbre is better on the grace imo, stage is more immersive and large on the grace but less pinpoint than the x, resolution is better on the x, decay is a bit slower and drawn out than the x which makes it feel a bit less snappy but does add some sweetness and richness the x doesn’t have, for speed and separation the x is superior, smoothness the grace is smoother overall although can sometimes go a slight bit into interfering with things, dynamically the grace feels limited, personally thought it felt pretty blunted and the x would be more impressive here for sure.

Generally very different goals, the grace goes for something that’s focused more on relaxed and chill listening that’s pretty inoffensive, rich and smooth, more spatially immersive and more organic leaning at the expense of some dynamic capability, overall clarity and coherency, and pinpoint accuracy, but otherwise is pretty good technicality wise for the signature it goes for. The X is a much different focus, much more forward neutral and balanced with more accuracy and technical ability with a tad of added smoothness and sweetness at the expense of some tonal weight and stage holographicness, less wow factor and less for casual listening but more refined and capable imo

Sorry one more question buddy :grimacing: what source/chain did you use with the sets was it the same?

I only was able to demo the X on a p6 pro and a lpgt ti, I had also heard the graces on the same sources as well, although since I owned the graces at the time I was able to put them on more options as well like a dx220 max, qpm, Hugo 2, etc. (graces were an impulse buy after being convinced by another member lol)

Speaking of I didn’t mention pairing with the graces, I personally liked them more on at least neutral to cleaner sources, found they got a bit overwhelming on stuff that was already leaning more toward the warmer relaxed side of things (so liked the x more on the p6p since it gave a bit more weight and also really focused on technical ability and organicness without disrupting balance, liked the grace more on the lpgt ti as it improved macrodynamics a bit which the grace is lacking in, showcased it’s larger feeling stage, and didn’t lean further into the signature so it balanced out a bit )
