JAY's audio memes (and reviews/ranking too I guess)

Pilgrim is Royal Sounding. It doesn’t sound cheap, the tonality is not perfect for me but it sounds like a proper Boutique Flagship.

Vol S is natural sounding, better tech. But I would never pick Vol S over Pilgrim in this universe

( My Vol S was not that good , TWX compared my unit with Timmy’s unit, Timmy’s unit sounded way better)

Apostle Impression was interesting

KIWIEARS SEPTET:

STOCK vs OPEN-BACK TAPED, no difference in sound

Orchestra Lite & Quintet:

Is it me or did they change the sound on both the Orch Lite & Quintet?

Quintet, it’s a maybe. I can blame it due to coupler differences and tips usage.
But the Orc Lite? That looks to be 100% silent revision lol. The old version looks better

Ya I like the old orch lite better, the “new” one is very shouty in the vocals, too forward imo

“New” quintet also sounds more clinical, the metallic timbre is more obvious now

Septet so far has been a mixed bag lol

First impressions Etude?

The “vibrational driver” is very subtle, you can feel a little more reverb and bounciness, but nothing crazy to write home about, aka nice little bonus but not speaker level sub-woofer or anything.

Ah, so more subtle BCD compared to like the Apevoix Grit or Pula Anvil?

Around the same as Grit, Anvil felt non-existent wouldn’t rec it

This is an interesting comparison - fuller in the bass, filled in lower treble but less air.

Begs the question - how does it scale?

Scales decent, not as good as Odyssey but you can crank it more than the 5+2
