Hey Jay, thanks for your eartip guide, it´s great to use as a reference point!

Do you have any idea why Xelastec II with its waxguard does have so much impact on the treble whereas Crystal II with its waxguard does not seem to have any impact at all.

I´d like to try Crystal II but i really do not want to sacrifice any treble detail so its in my nature that an additional waxguard initially turns me off, i don´t trust them but the measurement looks good….

I was using Mithryl on C12 and find it to be a perfect combo but the left side just does not fit 100% and is slightly too small wheres right side fits perfectly…..what a horror scenario….wrote a mail to Azla to see if they will come out with Mithryl in L size (14mm)

Xelastec 2

Crystal 2

The mesh hole looks a bit smaller i think on the xelastec, which would explain why it would affect the treble a bit more. other than that, thats a iec711 graph so 10k+ isnt accurate anyway…

I don´t know if i can see smaller mesh holes on Xelastec….hard to judge looks about the same to me.

To me it does not matter that much if the measurement is super precise, its about the relation to other measurements with the same rig imho

Yeah the distance is different so its hard to say if it is different or not but if they really are identical the mesh itself should not have any differences on the fr. Aside from that if the bore is wider on one then that is another factor but if all they differ is the material then they should really be identical on graph.

Glad it’s helping you man :+1:

I personally like the crystal 2 a little more and it’ll fit better for people with normal ears. The xelastec 2 has a wider base and seals better for bigger ears, so up to you.

if you want maximum treble detail then the softear ultraclear titanium boosts the details a little and fits best for me, pricy though.

Thanks!

I found what seems to be AZLA vivid L in my box and it does the trick. I am surprised you did not list/measure it, have you tried them? I love their texture. For oily earwax type it seems to be less prone of sliding out when it gets warmer/oilier.

Mithryl was saved from exile aswell and sits on Kinda Lava now where i dont have any fit issues with it….tip rolling never gets boring, always sth. new to discover

I would love to try Softears UC Ti but they are also only 13.5mm vs 13.3mm of Mithryl.

Regular Softears UC also did not fit me, so it would be too much of a gamble. The only other metal core option might be Coreir in 14mm but not yet ready to spend that kind of money on it.

Manufacturers need to understand the importance of bigger sizes #dumboearsmatter

Could be measuring differences from using different measuring tools or even using the same tools used differently. The QC of Xenns is regarded as pretty high IMO.

One of the best ways to test this is look at the Japanese sellers of used IEMs. As they are not just testing the same review unit doing the rounds, they are getting a much larger sample size. They display graphs after testing each unit before resale. The Xenns I have checked on those online stores have pretty low variance between units and very good channel matching.

The position of the wax guard appears to be a bit deeper Crystal 2 eartips, possibly scattering a bit more treble energy into the softer silicone of the umbrella.

Hi Jay. I am sorry to hear this. I have been a bit worried about your YT channel for quite a while since sometimes your reviews and presentation style come across as being somewhat condescending.

It looks good. The 8S graph looks most interesting to me of the bunch!
