I freaking hate it. But at the same time, I’m really glad I gave it a shot to finally listen to a Penon. Listened to the Fan 3, Mirai Shock and the Rival. They are legit good. Enough for me to jump on the Fan 3 bandwagon to try it out for longer periods of time. I’m buying one second hand (once he’s done with his review) from someone who was basically in the same boat.
As I wrote, I’m looking for iem of small size (similar to Supermix or S12 Pro) in the V style, because my experience was with 7Hz Zero and I was charmed by their neutrality, but they lacked bass. Specifically sub-bass, I don’t like the mid-range bass like QKZ x HBB - they were bad. The supermix after EM6L were more detailed but thin at the top, changing the sm4 in the EQ of their sound to the Jaytiss line gives an improvement. I listen to POP, Rock, Club, I love vocals and live concerts. SM4 gives a lot of air and detail, but often there is too much treble. Maybe going with DD instead of hybrid would be a good move? That’s why I’m interested in Dynaquattro, it is slightly withdrawn at the top compared to the sm4 with similar bottom characteristics. I don’t know if it’s bigger than the SM4 or if my ears can handle it. Will Dynaquattro provide any upgrade or just different tuning for SM4?
I think just different tuning. If you already eq, the more expensive iems don’t always provide massive value. Just the ability to not have to eq.
Personally I find dynaquatro smooth. That and @VIVIDICI_111 Estrella are two iems that I love and enjoy a great deal. KE4 is also really strong. But eq to your preference, always smart.
Hey Been a while. Things have been busy. I wanted to update people on something kinda minor but important. I’ve made my Mega 5EST BASS video to unlisted because I think there will be a lot of confusion with the Actual Mega 5EST BASS. It’s like my personal unit that I had personally tuned vs an iem that is actually being released that I haven’t heard*. Thus I’m making it unlisted. Meaning that you can check it out here:
I’ve renamed it on my ranking list as well to avoid confusion. If any questions let me know.
Some time ago I bought several iems: Dynaquattro, KE4 and Estrella. I would like to compare them. Simgot Sm4 - a lot of nice bass, the midrange is very clear, the treble is exposed with a lot of information, but very dry and thin. KE4 - good bass, the midrange sometimes feels too strong, which makes it thick, there is less detail and you can hear the timbre BA - meta tuning is not for me. Estrella, strong bass and treble, less audible midrange, forces louder listening, you can also hear the BA timbre. Dynaquattro - this is a revelation. The subbass is great, the midrange is readable, the treble is bright, although there are actually fewer details, it is still at a good level and not tiring. The sound scales very well, whether at a low or high listening level, everything is clear. Great natural DD sound without the weird BA timbre, PZT and sibilance. The downside is their size - they get a bit squishy after prolonged listening and need a strong source. I am delighted with them, but I am looking for other small IEMs - similar in size to the SM4 and here comes my request to you @Jaytiss, could you recommend some that have a similar sound and are small and comfortable? Of course, ones that will not sound worse than Dynaquattro?
Small iems are always kind of hard, that have similar sound signatures is also tough. I will say the Inawaken Dawn ms is a solid little banger.
I do like the AFul P7 a lot and it has quality bass, but not a lot of it. But again, small and an exact signature, sounds like you talking about the perfect iem. XD
Bullet is not for me, I’m looking for the size of Supermix, S12 Pro - these fit great. So there aren’t any that could be similar in sound to Dynaquattro and be a bit smaller? Or maybe Meze Alba?
