Anyone using one of these? I need a new desktop DAC and would like it to have USB and balanced out. Kinda between this and a modius for me but I don’t see a whole lot out there compared to teh Schiit offerings.
Well, Schiit Audio has a larger loyal following along with a larger product stack, so I am not surprised that you are having trouble finding comparisons. Both companies make great products, but I guess it will come down to synergy with your amp and headphones/speakers.

If your prefer a neutral analytical leaning sound signature go for the JDS Labs. If you prefer an organic musical leaning sound go for the Schitt.
Both are US companies JDS Labs out of Illinois, Schitt California & Texas.

I am recently in this market trying to find a DAC for my desktop set-up.
Got the Rose Technics RT5000, it is the best of both worlds to be exact.

I would probably lean towards the Modius in that case, but like others have said it depends on your sound preferences. Great amp by the way, I am running a Mjolnir 3 on my end, but the last chance pricing on the Ragnarok 2 sure was tempting.

Yeah I am leaning towards the Schiit, lots of more feedback and info out on their dacs vs JDS Labs stuff.
The Ragnarok 2 is amazing, I love the precision of the volume control. I think my only real negative is the power button on the back. I know I can just get something to automate powering it off if I wanted to.
