I just purchased the kiwi Ears x Z Reviews Serene, despite understanding the failings of these headphones. I Have a number of excellent cables, and own a number of screwdrivers. I am putting an element of trust in the fact that Z’s musical preferences are extremely similar to mine. And based on that, and want of a closed back planar to listen to in public spaces I have pulled the trigger on a pair of these. Time, and a vast amount of listening will tell as to whether this was a good choice or not. I bought the Defiant on the same whim and consider them to be my best purchase of the past year, I shall report back my considerations at a later date.

Tossed my order in. I know I’m going to have a slight issue with the tuning, but I’ve wanted a closed back planar for a long time and looking at the graph for them, I think a single band of EQ can solve the ear gain region completely.

Before this video gets lost in the shuffle. Here is how I have found to fix any Bass Rattle issues after proper break in.

If you have these issues I would report it to Linsoul or Kiwiears via social media and emplore you to do the repair and enjoy Serene. Returning the unit just means they won’t make anymore or attempt the fix for the next batch. This is why I give proper warning in my official review and have this repair video ready to go.

Let me know how it goes for everyone, I only had 2 samples and since both needed this Treatment I had to go with that as the norm. We may find its less needed once a few hundred are out there.

I had this same issue and followed the instructions and it worked Will now proceed with the review. I like em. I had a problem with Fatfreq and had to publish a video telling folks not to buy my collab from them (every place besides the maker was fine)

Sucks. I hope you got an apology from folks who are playing with your brand. Z Reviews is a brand. I was pissed for you watching that video but respect you did it quick and completely

I will wait a week and then start the yelling. So far the people who got it like it. Just waiting for that 50 hours mark for the rattle to occur.

Got my pair this morning & unfortunately has pretty bad crinkle & driver flux. Noticed it literally as I first put them on without even listening to any music :slightly_frowning_face:

Did the screw treatment & it fixed the left driver but the right one flexes every time I take them on & off. Not sure if the cups needs more venting? Will try the screw treatment again to see if it helps as well as burn them in for a few days. Hopefully that fixes it!

The Random flexes are normal. There will be another tutorial that deals with that but it probably involves drills, lol. The stuff you need to fix happens after break-in only on bass hits. So don’t worry until after that is done.

My unit had left crinkle and fixed it. I am enjoying the Serene very much. I’m not looking for Abyss Diana DZ out of them. Also the FiiO FT7 is my favorite to listen off FiiO kA13. No complaints after crinkle fixed. Great headphone for laborious work. As long as I’m working alone.
