šŸ”¶ Klipsch HP-3

The next headphones I want. They look so good. I own Klipsch speakers for my TV and they sound great.

So Iā€™ve been using these for about 4 months now, running them from a Grace SDAC through a Loki for EQ, and using a CTH hybrid to power them.

I have a number of different headphones but I keep coming back to the HP-3 just to listen to music. I dunno, I just love them. With the Loki, I like to slightly roll off the treble and slightly boost the bass, but it produces a FR that just gels with me. Iā€™ve mentioned before that it sounds like a high-end KPH30i.

Iā€™m interested in continuing to play with different DACs and amps (Would ultimately like a Bifrost2 and Dragonfly Cobalt for sure) but they are a winner for me.

I now own a DT770 Pro 250Ī©, 6XX, 177X GO, Meze 99 Noir, Focal Elegia, KPH30i, CM MH751, and a Superlux 681 EVO - they are all great in their own way and have their own purpose, but the HP-3 are my favorite for sitting back and just listening to music - really any genre.

Edit: I also think they have continued to get better over time, giving some credence to the idea that burn-in really helps with these.

Iā€™m convinced the amount time to really use them is insanely long for break in. If you want want to double double on the HP-3ā€™s, want to be more mobile, and want some gooey like tube sound (to someone who doesnā€™t own a tube)ā€¦ the Dragonfly Cobalt or even the Dragonfly Red is the way to go.

Would love to see some aftermarket cushions for these. Or even simply an official Klipsch SKU for replacement pads.

Cā€™mon Klipsch.

Technically if Klipsch makes the pads itā€™s not after market by strict definition. I can say based on my Abyss headphones, all you need is magnets in the right place and pad swapping is very possible.

I agree which is why I said Iā€™d love aftermarket pads OR official pads from Klipsch. Either or is fine by me just so long as something is made available by someone.

I can say Abyss can work well enough.

I just stick magnets inside of brainwavz xl pad skirts, and that works really well. I made a custom insert mounting ring, but it actually works better just attaching magnets to the pads.

I have an issue with my HP-3 where when I go for a walk with them, the headband makes a clicking sound. It also does this if I stretch out the headband slightly.

Also the HP-3 hurts the very top of my head a lot after wearing for 20+ minutes.

I had this issue also. I put some Dekoni Nuggets on the sides of my headband in the exact same way Zeos did in his HP-3 review and it alleviated that discomfort by taking pressure off the top of my head.

It doesnā€™t look great as the nuggets are black and I have the Oak color, but it was a gamechanger on the comfort.

Iā€™ll get some of those.

Anyone know about the clicking issue? Itā€™s a really annoying sound. Seems to be somewhere part way up the right side of the headband

Iā€™m probably getting a new HP-3 to replace mine. Has anyone else noticed they make this noise? Is it a known fault?

I personally wouldnā€™t ā€œreplaceā€ the HP-3. If you hear an issue itā€™s most likely the cable. After having an issue with mine I was forced to take mine apart and found how incredibly simple it is electrically and mechanically. Seriously just replace the cable with a Meze cable ( I think, you want the 3.5mm mono poles if memory serves me correct). You should be golden afterwards.

Itā€™s not the cable, or the sound at all. Itā€™s the headband. See post # 188

Oh yeahā€¦ as for that I havenā€™t a clue. Not that I recommend it but the head band is so simple for the mounting if you wanted DIY something it REALLY wouldnā€™t be hard.

But that aside, for how much those headphones are worth that is not a problem you should be experiencing at all.

Iā€™ve already returned them. If granted it, I will be ā€œrefundedā€ with an HD800S. Iā€™m probably going to swap the HD800S elsewhere for a brand new HP-3. Itā€™s complicated, but Iā€™m determined. I donā€™t really want an HD800S.

which meze cable did you get? This oneā€¦

Then did you get a 3.5mm to 4 pin xlr adapter?

Why would I run the HP-3 balanced? But yeah that cable looks like the one I purchased.

dunno just some amps the xlr output is better than 3.5mm and not just a pure power output but cleaner.

Iā€™m likely going purchase a set of Focal Clears today. These are the cables and have dual 3.5mm my hope is that the Focal cables will work with the HP3s. The size is right just not sure if they are tipped correctly?

Just a heads up, but sure you saw the reviews but the cables are horrible, they will work but thatā€™s where it ends. Just my 2cents. But sure you will love the Clears.
