KOSS ESP/95X or HFM Edition XX?

Getting ready to add something new to my collection and am looking for opinions from someone who has owned/reviewed both of these offerings.

I have several Planars and love them but have never tried Stats. I hear great things about them and $500 seems like a great price with its own power supply. On the other hand I’ve always wanted a pair of the large HFM and already know I love that Planar sound.

Its a Tuff Call for me. I’ve got that Itch for new cans and just can’t make up my mind.

Anyone who has spent time with both and could chime in would really help.

Thanks in Advance

I the xx is going to be larger sounding and have better bass imo then the 95x. The koss will be more detailed and have the estat sound. Comfort varies from person to person, but i find the 95x more comfortable because of the decreased weight. The issue with the 95x is that you won’t be able to use other amps, but that may not be a downside to you. The cable on the xx is pretty ass, so that’s something to take note of. It comes down to what music you commonly listen to and what you prefer. Both are great at this price, so you really won’t be missing out with either. I would see if you could try an estat before buying one because they do sound different from most headphones

TY Mon, Bass is what hooked me on Planars to begin with so that is a factor.(nothing like Planar Bass)
If Stats are lacking in that department then they are most likely not in my future.

That said, Have you tried the Verum ONE?

I was part of the early Head-Fi discussion with the creator and was really cheering him on to make them. How do they compare to the XX?

I would love to support a young upstart with a true passion for music.

Thanks Again

Unfortunately I have not heard the verum 1’s

Regarding bass on the 95x, it is there to an ample amount, but it lacks impact and can sound sometimes unnatural because of the speed. It can also not extend as low as the xx.

Going off of what I have seen regarding the verum 1’s, they are good, but I don’t know if they are at the level of the xx. The xx has a much more unique sound signature and almost a larger then life sound. The verum is great bang for buck, but I don’t think they had any large stand out qualities compared to most planars besides the great price.
