Thank you!
Iām so very happy you took the time to put such detailed thoughts out on the Koss electrostatic HPās. My personal opinion has been that these are currently one of the best values available for someone who wants a general purpose HP, and wants to keep the total budget under $1.5 K for a nice audiophile quality system. The Koss w/ a nice DAC, Simple EQ and a clean source offer a ton of value for someone who doesnāt want to keep swapping and upgrading and would prefer to simply listen to music and not the equipment for a good long while.
There are many combos that offer this same value and these IMHO are certainly in the mix. Great job happy listening. Call Koss and have them get you a pair that donāt have issues they seem to have excellent customer support. Enjoy.
Just estimated shipping cost for the pads. Thats ridiculous. 89$ pads, at least 43$ shipping + 19% taxes and probably customs fee. Thats insane for a pair of pads. Why do they cost 43$ shipping. Dont understand thatā¦Have ordered many things from the USA for ~ 10 dollar shippingā¦
If it would be a hundredā¦okā¦But thats too expensive for me at the momentā¦
Hardly any commercial flights.
Mhh didnāt think about that, possible for sure
do they also place the drivers further out from ears or about the same? Kinda hate my ears rubbing against the foam and making rice krispie sounds.
from what i can tell they are about the same to slightly farther away, It shouldnāt be an issue since these pads have a screen that touches the foam rather than your ears, so it should reduce microphonics since its already depressed etc.
Vespers definitely are tempting but pricey.
On another note, I think I will contact Koss. I got pretty annoyed last night, and it just has to be dust or something in my left driver, considering how flawless the right is despite me meddling with it. Blowing air through the left seems to make it either worse or better temporarily but does not affect the right at all.
Wait time is alright, but I really donāt want to pay the $25 service fee on such a new purchase.
Has anyone been able to get an exception from the $25 fee with a heart-felt letter or something? lol
I just wrote an request to vesper directly. Have read a head-fi thread where a guy told his experience with them directly and how the prices were. Itās a year old post, but asking is for free so I did it.
How was the guys experience?
I guess its okay to post that here, so i copy what vesper has sent me!

Hmm, I wonder if I want to try the angled pads. Like Zeos complains in his video, the back of my head does not seal at all with the back of the stock pads.
Color and material options. Oof, so many choices.
i thought to get angled ones in all black, outside inside leather and the side touching your skin alcantara or microsuede with memory foam.
Both the dekoni and the vesper pads are not angled but do seal the driver. You can bend the frame some to seal the stock pads, but its not ideal
Oh my GOD. Iām sorry Lord for using your name in vain, but this is the first time my left driver has been dead silent for more than ten minutes. I can actually keep them on my head without audio. I can listen to quiet music. I feel so powerful right now.
I donāt wanna jinx it, but Iād be happy if this keeps up more often than not. Playing music with shitty portable-CD-player DBBS at ear-bleeding volumes must have shaken off whatever was causing the buzzing in my left driver.
Good to hear. But be careful with ear bleeding volumes, you will hate yourself later for that - just saying!
My tinnitus is ringing as fuck while writing this ^^
Jokeās on you, I was born with bad tinnitus
I can see why hearing loss is easy to come by for bass lovers. 80db of bass fart is much more tolerable of the same in treble or mids. In this way, Iām glad I donāt look for boosted bass very often.
Born with Tinnitus is pretty bad I guessā¦I have noticed mine a few month ago, but Iām sure I have it for longerā¦countless weekends with 30 hour listening sessions say hello
Oof, so I decided Iām going to try and see if I can return my pair to Drop as a defective product. Literally only the left driver is noisy, the right side never acts up. Iāve been starting to have weird moments of channel imbalance, so thatās kind of the last straw for me.
I still want a replacement because they sound so amazingā¦ and hey, maybe I can get the $390 deal. Maybe
I have a pretty bad channel imbalance, but no other issues with mine. I can still neutral them out so Iām not stressing. Sorry you have had so many problems though.
