šŸ”¶ KOSS ESP/95x

Koss already sent my esp95X. So, if you are from MĆ©xico and your esp95X failsā€¦ You can be sure that koss will take care of them.

It could take like a month butā€¦ Well, itā€™s reasonable for me due the circumstances.

Ouch. Glad Koss fulfilled their word, although they are known ti be pretty slow even for US warranty claims.

Speaking of early Koss failures, my very first Porta Pro broke within a month (actual driver failure, how rare) so I got a replacement through Amazon since the return perioud was still valid. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, so should I get these or the Drop THX Pandas? Both are going for a similar price on Drop right now and need help deciding.

These. Pandas will never be worth the money to me. These are something else though. The detail will blow your mind on electrostats and at $390 I donā€™t think you can find anything close detail wise. They take eq pretty well also so they can fit a pretty wide range of music.

Thanks! I will then definitely consider these. The only other pair of Hi-Fi headphones I own currently are the Koss KPH30i. I do have a pair of Massdrop x Koss KSC75X coming in soon but other than that Iā€™m quite new. I also wanna try and get a pair of Phillips SHP9500 at some point.

Oh yeah, a 95X will definitely be a huge step up in detail, although tonality and lack of bass impact without EQ may not be to your liking.

If you get one and you consitently get squealing noises for more than a couple days, have Drop replace it or ask for a refund. They arenā€™t supposed to do that and itā€™s because of Kossā€™s shitty QC. My first pair was like that but my replacement has been perfect so far, 3 months in.

Well then Iā€™m probably sold! Iā€™m not the biggest fan of a ton of bass, although I occasionally like a little extra kick and rumble in my music. But I do have an EQ in the software I use to play music.

It still amazes me that these Donā€™t get more loveā€¦ The price to performance is just astounding. I run my pair off of the monoprice desktop 788 dac/amp and just wow. I need to get an r2r dac to feed my tube pre my father built for a true second experience with themā€¦

Also IMO: better in detail than dt1990 and lcd2c. Laid back sound that is natural, inoffensive, and the bugger is light so can wear forever lol

Youā€™re running a tube pre? Iā€™m interested in doing such, just donā€™t know if itā€™s worth investing into.

So I have one that Iā€™m running in the living room with my speakers, but I have listened to it before with the 95x, just been awhile and I need to see about that set up again. I ran into microphonics with my desk situation, so Iā€™m hoping I can fix that and use it again. I was worried about. Preamping a pre causing some of it soā€¦ another dac would be needed. It opened up the stage more if memory serves.

Im saving for an r2r dac aswell. Should be next level. Im currently listening to my ESP95/X with the custom pads from Vesper Audio. Right decision to get some pads from them
It never really bothered me that they are bass light, but the vesper pads improved it in the bass region. Totally fine like this for me. I got angled ones and the headphone sits way better on my head now since the pads fully touch my face.

Yea I love my vesper pads as well, I get driver flex more, ie sticking to stator, due to the seal, but no issues otherwise, great comfort and sound, I bent my headband to get a better seal with all pads as well tho soā€¦ LOL

This is one of the more wild heads-up buying decisions on here that Iā€™ve seen.
Just, in that they are such different animals.
I get that you might have different use scenarios for these, I hope.
The Pandas are very convenient, easy.
The Koss are all about the sound, and are imminently inconvenient.

To be completely frank, I donā€™t even use my 95X everyday anymore since I donā€™t have the motivation to plug it in after a long day. Popping on a pair of KSC75 or KDE250 is much easier lol.

Yes, and that keeps them ā€œspecialā€

ugh! knowing how much better my sound would be is enough motivation to avoid those two, LoL!

why not the Porta Proā€™s or KPH30iā€™s?

Porta Pros and KPH30i are nice but not enough treble for me unless I had enough treble murder for the day.

I really like the KDE250 (Iā€™m a fan of excessive 1-2khz) and I realized I really like clip ons.

the Z mod is supposed to give you more treble, isnā€™t it? bass too, but treble also I thought.

eh, not in the mood to mod my headphones. I even removed Yaxis from my Porta Pro because I kinda like it a little more as it is. Iā€™m a bit weird like that lol.

Thats mainly because Iā€™m not the richest man out there and $400 is my budget. I just wanted to see if i should focus on sound or convenience. I already have a pair of Apple AirPod Pros and Bose 700 (yes you can make fun of me all you want for having those as my main travel headphones) but in terms of critical listening I only really have the Koss KPH30i.
