Koss KPH30i or KSC75 or Porta Pros?

Now that I got all 3 of them. Here is my ranking (all in stock):

Porta Pro << KSC75 < KPH30i

The KSC75 and the KPH30i is library dependent. Thats why I like the KPH30i more.

The Porta pro on the other hand just sounds too bloated and dark to me.

Kph30i sounds the best to me.

Have you tried KSC75 drivers on Porta Pro headband? The headband presses the drivers closer to ears and improves bass.

No I havent and I wont. I hate the porta pro head-band.

I have ordered some parts express headbands though and might try it on the KSC75 and the porta pro (possibly the KPH30i as well, but it doesnt need it I think).

Looking from left to right, this is exactly the order and the modifications in which I like the Koss headphones sonically.

The KSC75 with the Parts Express Headbands and the Yaxi pads is, for me, the clearest and certainly the most precise in terms of sound interpretation.

By the way, the Fiio BTR5 is a congenial delivery partner for all Koss headphones, both in terms of sound and flexibility, this amp is a fantastic match.

If you set the values to 60 ohms and 101bB, you get a wonderful sound.

It’s always fun to see how certain preferences can be so different between people. I agree with your comments on Koss trifecta (although I prefer KSC75 over KPH30i) but I absolutely love Porta Pro headband. It’s light, comfortable, foldable and funky looking. I guess I should add that for some reason it doesn’t pull my hear at all. Maybe that’s why I’m not annoyed by it

Hopefully parts express headband will be a better fit for you. I also ordered it just to see if Porta Pro and KSC75 will sound any different.

Yeah, the porta pro band is going to make me bald lol.

Am I the only one who thinks the clamp on the KPH’s is insane? The shpe of m ear is literally imprinted on the cushions! (grado pads on the way)

Besides that I’m loving them. I wanna mod my KSC’s for MMCX but I’m scared of fucking up xD

The problem is fairly easy to fix. Stretch the headphones over a yoga block or a couple of books and carefully warm the headband with a hairdryer, stretch it a little further and then let it cool over the yoga block. Ultimately, the headphones are very comfortable together with the G-pads

:hugs: :+1:.

Got the KPH30 yesterday, and damn, I am impressed.

I don’t think they sound as good as “real” headphones, but they are damn close. They are relaxed and the bass is seriously impressive! Imaging is good too and all in all they sound good enough to listen too while working/walking etc.

The best thing for me is how light they are. Sometime I get tired/hot from having my ears covered for 3 hours in a row. This is a very welcome variation to listen to for another hour after that happens.

Haven’t taken them outside or anything yet, but can imagine they are usefull there too. Dare I even say they might be pretty good for gaming!

I personally don’t see the need in modding them, I have plenty of over ear headphones  I actually like the small footprint these have! The comfort is not bad at all imho (I prefer them over my PC38x comfort wise…)

Well shit, dude, you literally gave one of the most toughest questions out there like come on! All of those headphones from Koss are damn good, therefore deserve all of the love. I mean if you have a lot of money? go get Koss’ Audiophile set or Audiophile Starter kit (whatever the hell the name of that one is) since you’re getting all of those headphones for 100 bucks (if they are on stock of course).

But it really depends on you, if I want a bit of a Bright sound, KSC75s. If I want a sound that is on the Warm sound but freaking good for music and has Low end, KPH30i. I don’t have the Porta Pros yet, so I cannot describe them but due to the given people who have owned them and said they are good, Porta Pros are good.

Also if you are going to get a Koss headphone like those, it is ESSENTIAL for YOU to get some Yaxi pads on them, for they are going to be endgame for sure imo! (Also you can do the Grado pads mod on the KPH30is as an alternative.)

Damn you people and your Koss propaganda. I just ordered the KSC75 and Yaxi pads. I hope you’re happy.

I like em better than my KPH’s :stuck_out_tongue:
No yaxi’s though. Anyone know where to get them in europe? And do they only come in blue and red? I kinda like the more stealthy look of my black KSC’s.

It depends on how big your head is. The yaxi pads are too big for me so they butchered the sound for me.

IMO; Porta pro (stock or parts express headband) < KSC75 < KPH30i

When you listen to them you will understand. They defy reason and common sense. The value proposition is hilarious honestly. Oh yeah and they scale with good source gear. Somehow.

to OP from 2019: just get them all, don’t cheap out, and compare them yourself. Come oooon…

The looks inspire really low expectations so I’ll likely get a pleasant surprise.

What tip does the wire have? 3.5mm?

Well, I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I probably use my Koss headphones more than I do the expensive ones I have (I’d say which, but that would be even more embarrassing). I don’t have the clip-on ones, but do have the other two… both with Yaxi pads.

propably because a. they have a more “fun”-oriented signature then your higher-ends and b. at least to me, the effect of these weightless things to sound that great (in case of the kph even impactful) has just so much character, it’s just awesome. Sure, you still know that it’s not the top end of hifi development, but who says, that i.e. less dynamics, more compressed sound, less detail etc. can’t just still be more enjoyable than technical superiority?

They look and feel like all of $15 for sure. And they are terminated in 3.5.
