would depend on what you are looking for?
Your music taste, if you want an all day comfort HP, or a more detail orientated one?
The more infos you give the better we can approximate a good choise for you
But if you want a comfort all day HP for noisier conditions i think its hard to beat a DC Aeon
Is it the original Aeon Flow, or the updated Aeon Flow RT?
I have the RT and love them. If its the original Aeon Flow, word is they’re kind of bass light.
To add, as WFH listening to music they’re great. If you plan to use them with a mic for conference calls, it can be a little weird as they isolate most of the ambient sound.
Now you have to weigh up a bit how the performance of the amplifier is.
The comfort ect is then rather the second and third thing.
Because it can still be so comfortable if you can’t drive it.
From a purely drive point of view, the first point goes to the Audeze.
It is much easier to drive than the Aeon, and if it is the older Aeon, it is even more difficult.
By the way, not only do you need power, but it also has to remain distortion-free with the low-ohm headphones.
I would definitely take a look at the data sheet again.
The Lcd 2 should have 70 ohm, unfortunately I don’t know about the Aeon.
But I think that the older Aeon Flow was not always easy to drive and from today’s point of view the Flow became the R/T.
I would first
1:Check the drive
2:Sound
3:Comfort
4:Spare parts and service
A bit of both - as I would use them in the home office while working comfort is a thing but the overall experience when just listing to music is important too. So for noise should be that much other then the 10+ workstations in the office/lab.
I have been Sennheiser HD fan for year - and actually liked my Beyer’s. Been around some original HD400’s (loved the blue color). Now I mainly use the Gold Planar GL20
So for music taste I hear almost everything from electronic to classic.
Been eyeing an ADI-2 for a while for the dropping down in to the rabbit hole of EQ.
Have cleaned our the gear in the office why I am back looking at HP’s again - so right now it’s either a E1DA PD V2 or a portable GAD tube amp in the mix.
Would be the better HP for electronic and with EQ for classic but it could be a bit amp picky, have you got a decent amp or would that be another purchase that would lower the value of the LCD CX?
Thanks!
Well right now it would mainly be the E1DA PowerDac V2 - but been eyeing either ADI-2 DAC or the IFI Gryphon maybe for more of a half portable and desk setup which I actually could move around the office with.
