Ok so i just got a Dark Voice and a Russian NOS tube. Well i forgot to turn it off and left it on for over 24 hours. not sure how long. Did i damage the tubes in any way? I heard these tubes can burn out if you do that. I was concerned when i realized and saw the tubes were not glowing as bright as they usually do. I turned it on today and it sounds ok but nore sure.
BTW @M0N can we get a Dark Voice official thread?
you’re fine. their are people who leave these things on for a week to burn in the driver tube. I would however recommend taking out the power tube if you wish to leave it on for burn in as they produce the most heat and this thing gets super hot
also there is already a darkvoice thread, just search for it
There are so many darkvoice threads on here just pick one you like lol, too much of a pain to make an official thread and merge so many things
You actually most likely did yourself a favor by leaving those tubes on an extra 24 hours as that most likely gave them some needed burn in. Tubes do have a finite lifespan like an incandescent light bulb almost, they operate on a bell curve and start off ok and then get better until they reach a peak, and start to get worse afterwards. You didn’t really do anything harmful here, but I also wouldn’t suggest leaving it on all the time either
Well i understand what your saying. but the Dark Voice is recommended so much and is such a popular reference amp. I think we should have one. i say ignore all the other threads. but make a new clean one. it will get populated fast enough lol
