shoutout to Vermintide for having some of the best audio ive ever heard in a video game. everything is just so clear but still pleasant, unlike games like Squad and Insurgency, none of the frequensies seem emphazised, the voice recordings in particular are incredible! And i don’t think I’ve ever heard voice actors put personality through their given characters quite like this before, from the games that i’ve played myself
some other mentions i can come up with would be
-battlefield games which i suspect have some of the most complex audio work in the buisniss
-Doom Eternal (but not everything because its such a big focus on the music and some songs sound rather compressed compared to others) The way the music melds into the the action on screen is absolutely fantastic!
-Ori and the will of the wisps Ori seems to have very layered, dynamic music. Every song has so much soul to it, serene and/or angelic. The way the music melds into the gameplay is absolutely fantastic, very much like how the newer Doom games does it but will of the wisps goes even further, changing from second to second extremely masterfully, matching up with the in-game cutscenes extremely well which feel seamless with the gameplay itself, sort of movie-like. ill probably come back to this just because there is so much to talk about
what are some soundscapes or songs you enjoy in video games and why?
